Volkswagen Confirms Working On Using IOTA In Their Cars

Leading German automaker Volskwagen AG is going full throttle to implement IOTA’s tangle technology in its cars. The information was shared by Volkswagen through a tweet.

While providing their brief plan through twitter, Volkswagen underlined the areas in which both IOTA’s tangle technology and the token is used in unison.

Volkswagen – Blockchains on the road

In a post titled “Putting blockchains on the road,” Volkswagen expresses their interest and huge prospects blockchain technology offers the automotive industry.

Volkswagen has not provided any specific details in its posts. However, the company has outlined “maintenance, logistics, self-driving vehicles and specialized solutions such as tamper-proof odometers” as areas where the technology can be implemented.

According to the post, Benjamin Sinram and Nicolai Bartkowiak, IT engineers at Volkswagen Group, are working “full steam ahead” to implement the technology in real-world use.
Bartkowiak explained:

“Blockchain technology also offers a lot of opportunities when it comes to self-driving vehicles. It can protect cars from hackers better than other technologies, and help with automatic payments at fueling stations or car washes.”

The post, however, did not elaborate on how the integration will function. Ralf Rottmann, IOTA foundation board member has expressed his happiness for Volkswagen’s openness to the IOTA token.

Many blockchain firms have made considerable advancements in the sector. However, it is extremely encouraging to see a company of the size of Volkswagen delving into crypto assets and working to implement a real-world use case.
