Count of Bitcoin ATMs Surge Across the Globe

Bitcoin ATMs are recording a strong increase across the globe, as per data provided by Coin ATM Radar. From a minimum of 7,756 in May 2020, ATMs facilitating deposit and withdrawal of cryptos has risen to 19.452 in May 2021.

A major portion of those machines are operating in the US. The count of cryptocurrency ATMs established in the country is 16,378, an increase from a mere 5.635 in May 2020.

Bitcoin Depot has claimed that it has installed more than 2,500 cryptocurrency ATMs across the globe, a majority of them are located in the US In April, the firm installed 355 new ATMs in the US and currently anticipates over 200% increase in 2021.

The Atlanta-based firm credits the sharp rise in the count of cryptocurrency ATMs to the rise in the popularity of cryptocurrency dealings and cryptocurrency assets gaining adoption.

Similar to the US, in Canada, Coin ATM Radar has revealed that Bitcoin ATM count rose from a mere 718 in 2020 to 1,362 in the year-to-date.

Even Europe recorded a rise in installations to 1,306, from 1,142 during the same one-year period. On the contrary, installations in the UK are on the decline. The country currently has only 181 cryptocurrency supporting teller machines, down from 274 in May last year.
