PornHub Starts Accepting Bitcoin & Litecoin as Payment

Pornhub has stated that it is now accepting Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin (BTC) as payment for its premium facilities. For the past two years, the company has been accepting Verge crypto as mode of payment.

The adult website did start supporting several more cryptos from then on. However, it is the first time Pornhub is accepting major cryptos.

The company’s vice president Corey price stated:

“As a leader in adult content with over 130 million visitors per day, Pornhub is excited to now offer two widely-used and leading digital currencies for our users. Our team continues to pave the way for tech development, testing and implementing new technology for everyday consumers far ahead of the mainstream market.”

The Montreal, Canada based Pornhub was established in 2007, a year before Bitcoin was introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto.

It is now the world’s ninth most visited website with over 3 billion monthly visitors. Crypto and porn were considered as mutually beneficial to each other’s growth.

Even before the arrival of Bitcoin, cryptography and privacy improving technology advocates felt that porn would turn out to be foremost user of digital currencies which are devoid of government links. Satoshi Nakamoto expressed similar opinion a decade back:

“Bitcoin would be convenient for people who don’t have a credit card or don’t want to use the cards they have, either don’t want the spouse to see it on the bill or don’t trust giving their number to “porn guys”, or afraid of recurring billing.”
