1.30mln Polygon Blockchain Based NFTs Traded on OpenSea in Dec 2022

OpenSea has revealed that the marketplace sold more than 1,300,000 Polygon NFTs in December last year. More than 15,3 million dollars were transacted by 116,000 active dealers. December was the third-biggest in 2022. (on the basis of NFTs traded for every active trader.) It totaled to 11.24 NFTs per active trader, with December being the month with the lowest annual average volume/NFTs sold (11.8 dollars vs. 482 dollars in January 2022.) At the same moment, each active trader had 133 dollars.

Even though the overall figures for Polygon NFTs were impressive, OpenSea lost 23% of its supremacy over the year. The total number of NFT transactions conducted on the platform decreased by 25%. OpenSea had approximately 80,000 transactions by the beginning of 2022. Nevertheless, the numbers continued to decline, reaching a low of 60,000 by December 31, representing a decline of 25%.

Conversely, OpenSea’s share of the market has suffered a significant knock as well. The site’s market share dropped from 50% to 33% in the last year. OpenSea was responsible for 20% of total ETH gas use, which decreased to 9% at the end.

Nevertheless, Polygon NFTs’ appeal has held the ecosystem in balance. Traders predict OpenSea to return in the coming months for this reason.
