11 More Universities Join Ripple’s Blockchain Initiative Program

Ripple steps forward to allow university students to explore interesting programs in addition to the existing education system.

Ripple is adding 11 more universities to its Blockchain Initiative Program on Feb 07, 2019.

The main objective is to spread blockchain awareness and to make this disrupted technology part of education.

Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) is an approach to strengthening information about blockchains among future developers.

The program is supported by Ripple’s $50 million investment to serve 17 prestigious universities worldwide.

Below are the 11 new universities joining Ripple’s UBRI program;

  • Carnegie Mellon University
  • Cornell University
  • Duke University
  • Georgetown University
  • University of Kansas
  • University of Michigan
  • Morgan State University
  • National University of Singapore
  • Northeastern University
  • University of Sao Paulo
  • Institute for Fintech Research, Tsinghua University
  • By adding 11 new universities, the blockchain firm Ripple is supporting 29 UBRI partners in total.

Regarding blockchain, Eric van Miltenburg, Ripple’s SVP of Global Operations said

“Blockchain is an incredibly transformational technology and helping advance the best minds in the world, who are already showing interest in this field, is sure to benefit the entire ecosystem […] Expanding the ecosystem to a more global, diversified network of UBRI partners will only continue to enrich these projects.”

Launched in June 2018, Ripple is trying to benefit the entire ecosystem. The initiative to accelerate academic blockchain research is quite impressive, as it aims to prepare new business leaders, developers, professionals and entrepreneurs for disrupted technology.

In addition to the research program, universities are encouraged to host the conference, initiate courses for faculty and students interested in cryptography, digital payments, blockchain and other related approaches.

“We are placing full faith in these universities, knowing that the students and faculty are the most capable individuals in the field, said Miltenburg. We want to help accelerate what is already a spark by turning that into a flame to help these schools move forward.”

Ripple is already working with the leading Chinese University joint venture to launch the Blockchain Research Scholarship Program, as previously reported. Tsinghua University Institute of Financial Technology (THUIFR) is therefore debuting the Blockchain Technology Research Scholarship Program (BRSP) in partnership with Ripple.
