Blockchain Education Alliance Enrolls MasterCard, Binance X and Ripple’s Xpring as New Members

Several prominent industry leaders have joined the Blockchain Education Alliance, which was established by blockchain accelerator MouseBelt. The details were revealed by Ashlie Meredith, the university program director for MouseBelt Blockchain Accelerator.

The latest members include payment processor and credit card provider MasterCard, innovation division of popular cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Binance X, blockchain based real-time gross settlement system provider Ripple’s accelerator, Xpring, and cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin.

Other organizations which have joined the alliance include smart contract platform provider NEO, IoT (internet-of-things startup IoTeX, blockchain security company Quantstamp and big data blockchain service provider Constellation Labs.

As per the official website, the Blockchain Education Alliance intends to back education “to ensure students receive the skills, connections, and knowledge necessary to contribute to the blockchain ecosystem.”

When the association was launched last October, there were only handful of members such as Tron, Icon, Stellar Development Foundation, Hedera, Wanchain, Ontology, Nervos, Harmony One, LTO Network, Orbs, NEM, Emurgo and ETC Labs. Two months earlier i.e. on August 2019, MouseBelt unveiled a blockchain education initiative at three campuses under the University of California.

The blockchain and cryptocurrency sector has been facing the scarcity of professional workforce with ability to move the sector forward.

Last August, Ken Weber, Ripple’s head of social impact, stated that universities across the globe should start offering blockchain and digital asset training courses.

In January, Nikolai Mushegian, an ex-MakerDAO contributor and Carnegie Mellon alumnus set aside 10,000 MKR, worth just below $5.65 million, to his university to introduce a research program focused on decentralized apps. Last October, a Master’s degree in blockchain and distributed ledger technology was rolled out at the University of Malta.
