Blockchain Gaming Firm Animoca Acquires Eden Games

Recently, Animoca Brands, a blockchain-based game firm, acquired Eden Games for an undisclosed sum. Since its participation in racing games such as 2009’s Test Drive Unlimited and the Gear Club series is more well-known, Eden Games will now focus completely on developing blockchain-based racing games and manufacturing items for NFT holders who have had their F1 games shut down.

In 2017 when they were known as Millennial Esports, Engine Gaming and Media purchased a major share in Eden Games. A spokesperson for Animoca said that Eden would work on new blockchain-based racing games in addition to improving on the REVV token-based games already under development by Animoca.

Animoca’s NFT Race Pass program will include these new games, which are best enjoyed by those who purchased NFT vehicles in F1 Delta Time, the company’s recently shuttered product. “We are excited to start the next chapter of Eden Games by joining Animoca Brands,” said Eden Games co-founder and studio head David Nadal regarding the purchase. “In the future, we intend to provide fresh experiences that challenge the current quo in the racing genre and possibly push into a few more frontiers.”

Branching out is always fascinating, and we’re curious to see what these new projects will be. In spite of the fact that Eden Games is most known for its racing games, the studio has also experimented with other genres, such as Kya: Dark Lineage, a 3D action platformer, and Alone in the Dark, a survival horror. So, although they may have some experience outside of racing, it seems that they will now be solely focused on racing games under the new management.
