Brave Browser To Create Crypto Wallet for ETH and BAT

Brave, a blockchain powered internet browser, has announced that its crypto wallet for Ethereum tokens are under development phase. Brave has discussed the initiative in its blog post., which states that the in-built wallet supports Basic Attention Token (BAT), the native ERC-20 standard based cryptocurrency of Brave.

Furthermore, the wallet also facilitates interaction with DApps (Decentralized applications), effectively making Brave a Web3 browser.

The wallet, however, cannot communicate with Brave Rewards. This implies that users will not be able to move any BAT tokens between Brave Rewards and Crypto Wallets, the name given to Brave’s Wallet in development.

Users of the wallet are expected to safely manage their keys and Brave suggest users “stick to small amounts and keep regular backups” if they wish to have a feel of the trial version of Crypto Wallets.

Brave intends to incorporate a feature that will enable token transfer between Brave Rewards and Crypto Wallets. Furthermore, the company aims to begin make Uphold compatible with its wallet, thereby facilitating three-way transfer of crypto assets between Uphold, Brave Rewards and Crypto Wallets.

Ultimately, Brave also aims to link Crypto Wallets and Brave Rewards directly, instead of depending on Uphold’s custodial wallet for administration of private keys. According to the announcement, the aforementioned initiative will be the largest project in its vision of creating Crypto Wallets.

Notably, yesterday, Brave tweeted that it has included Wikipedia in the list of verified publishers. A few days before that, Brave launched BAT tipping facility for users of Vimeo and Reddit. Earlier this month, Brave started facilitating BAT tipping on Twitter.
