Bybit Champions Blockchain’s Role in Ethical Impact

bybit

Bybit, currently ranked as the second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, is amplifying its focus on blockchain’s tangible benefits through a new collaborative event. The company has announced a livestream titled “Bybit x EthicHub x BGA: Invest for impact, earn with DeFi”, scheduled for April 11 at 1 PM UTC. The session aims to showcase how decentralized finance (DeFi) can generate positive outcomes for underserved communities, particularly coffee farmers in economically challenged regions.

The initiative is being launched in collaboration with EthicHub and the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a grants-driven initiative designed to support blockchain projects that address real-world social and economic issues. The livestream intends to delve into how blockchain applications are being leveraged to provide fair financing and open global trade pathways for smallholder farmers.

EthicHub has built a blockchain-powered model that connects farmers lacking access to traditional banking services with global lenders. These loans are backed by a decentralized system where the lending process is verified through community auditing, enhancing transparency and trust. Bybit has already committed $1 million in liquidity to the EthicHub platform, signaling its strategic alignment with social impact projects rooted in the Web3 ecosystem.

The livestream will present a multi-perspective discussion, offering insights from various stakeholders across the lending and agricultural value chain. One of the main themes of the event is how blockchain-based decentralized lending can address long-standing challenges in global agriculture, particularly the financing gap faced by smallholder farmers. Viewers will also hear how such lending mechanisms promote ethical sourcing and foster more equitable trade partnerships between producers and buyers.

A diverse lineup of speakers is set to lead the conversation. EthicHub’s Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Gabriela Chang, is expected to provide an overview of the platform’s mission and its achievements in linking local farmers with the global financial community. Jorge Barrigh of Heifer International will offer insight into how Impact Capital Americas supports and audits lending partners to ensure accountability and sustainability. David Llorens, representing roasters Animal Coffee and Jaleo, will share his perspective on ethical sourcing practices from a buyer’s standpoint. Glenn, a lead figure at BGA, is expected to elaborate on how the alliance nurtures impact-oriented blockchain initiatives. The session will be moderated by Shadie Berro, who leads social media at Bybit.

To encourage community engagement, the livestream will feature a $2,000 prize pool giveaway and an interactive poll, where viewers can vote on whether farmers or investors gain more from DeFi lending. The event underscores a growing interest in blockchain’s utility beyond speculative finance, with a focus on driving real-world change.

This initiative forms part of Bybit’s larger Blockchain for Good strategy, which seeks to incubate, fund, and scale blockchain-driven projects that promote social equity and sustainability. By aligning itself with purpose-driven platforms like EthicHub and BGA, Bybit is positioning Web3 not just as a technological frontier, but as a tool for ethical innovation and inclusive economic participation.

As the broader blockchain landscape continues to evolve, initiatives such as this reflect a maturing sector increasingly focused on aligning technological advancement with global development goals.
