Chinese Jiangsu Province To Adopt Blockchain, IoT

One of the innovations that is planned to be deployed by Chinese authorities to revamp local transport infrastructure is blockchain. A recent government bulletin illustrates plans that cites blockchain, in addition to other path breaking tools such as internet of things (IoT) and big data, as one of the most useful innovations that needs to be implemented in Jiangsu Province, which is located in north of Shanghai.

A long drawn venture called the “Transport Infrastructure Development Implementation Plan” strives to tweak both passenger and freight systems to minimize pollution and improve efficiency. According to the newsletter, blockchain will showcase supply chain information. A unrefined transcription reads as follows:

“Vigorously develop ‘Internet+’ efficient logistics, make full use of mobile Internet, Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, blockchain and other technologies to promote the improvement of traditional cargo transportation organization and the effective integration of various modes of transportation.”

It is not unusual to see the implementation of blockchain projects at the state level in China, with several domestic and nationwide programs aspiring to install the disruptive technology in one way or other.

The initiatives are supported by corporate level projects such as the one started by retail giant Alibaba, in partnership with Aerospace Information Co., to advance blockchain development. In transportation sector, Shenzhen started giving out electronic subway invoices using blockchain a week before.

Likewise, a study has indicated that China is leading the list of nations which have filed the most number of patents.
