Christie’s to Auction Algorand Blockchain Based NFT Featuring Andrea Bonaceto’s AB Infinite 1

The Algorand Foundation, whose mission is to expand the ecosystem of Algorand, the carbon-negative Layer 1 blockchain created by Turing Award winner and MIT professor Silvio Micali, is pleased to announce that Christie’s will auction off Andrea Bonaceto’s AB Infinite 1 NFT artwork, which was built on the Algorand blockchain. Christie’s 20th / 21st century evening sale will take place in London on October 13 during Frieze Week.

The piece is an interactive snapshot of Bonaceto’s life in the endless cycle that travels “ab infinite” (Latin for “from infinity”) to the beginning, represented by the number “1.” The technology of Algorand makes AB Infinite 1 interactive. Through a specifically created AI process that captures viewer interactions through social media channels, the public may edit the digital artwork. Reactions or recommendations are transformed into visual replies that are included into the work.

On the artwork’s website, www.abinfinite1.com, viewers may see AB Infinite 1 transform over time. In two phases, users may become members of AB Infinite 1:

“Christie’s backing of NFTs based on the Algorand blockchain reflects the increasing acceptability of digital art,” said Shamir Ozery, Head of Web3 at the Algorand Foundation. Exposing collectors who visit Christie’s auctions to the Algorand blockchain will establish a new norm for NFTs as the sector undergoes a digital art revolution, changing what art is and what it can achieve.

AB Infinite 1 examines the topic of authenticity and the right to express oneself freely. Bonaceto’s portraits are characterized by this trademark colorful style, while his landscapes are surrealist with allusions to the works of Kandinsky and Picasso. The most significant aspect of Bonaceto’s art is the sincere endeavor to communicate genuine emotion.

“I am honored to have AB Infinite 1 listed with conventional art classics in Christie’s Evening Sale,” stated artist Andrea Bonaceto. “I see NFTs as a means for expressing artistically significant ideas, not just as certificates of authenticity but also as a new paintbrush in the hands of artists to create original ideas. For AB Infinite 1, Algorand’s newest ARC-19 standard for NFTs was the technical brush that enabled the NFT artwork to be upgraded on-chain in response to social media participation.”
