Epic Games Launches NFT Powered Web3 Game

The American video game company Epic Games has welcomed Blankos Block Party by Mythical Games as the initial NFT-driven Web3 game to their marketplace. The latest game to be launched on the Epic Games shop was the initial Web3 game. After launching open beta in December 2020, Mythical Games’s game is already available on its official platform.

Blankos Block Party is a free-to-play multiplayer strategy game using collectable digital format of vinyl toys referred to as Blankos. These non-fungible tokens may be purchased, enhanced, and traded throughout the course of the game.

Third Kind Games and Mythical Games worked together to build the title. In June 2022, the company revealed intentions to release the free-to-play game on the Epic Games Store. It was uncertain if this would be the initial game of its sort to be released.

Grit, a Western-themed sniper by Gala Games, was supposed to be the initial Web3 game for the platform, however it has yet to be released. Blankos Block Party, which was motivated by designer/vinyl toy movement, offers users a colorful online ecosystem for communication and play.

NFTs are utilized in the game to symbolize unique items such as avatar attire and embellishments that can be purchased and sold in the secondary market. In contrast to its primary competitor, Valve’s Steam marketplace, Epic Games Store took a different approach for Web3 gaming last year, claimingover 194 million total users. In the autumn of the same year, Valve announced that publishers may not upload any NFT- or cryptocurrency-related games to Steam.

Tim Sweeney, creator and CEO of Epic Games, answered via Twitter that although his company had no plans to employ NFTs or Web3 technology, it would let other artists to use them as long as they complied with legal restrictions and industry norms.
