Honeywell Employs Blockchain Platform for Aircraft Parts Documentation

Technology and manufacturing enterprise Honeywell International Inc has developed a blockchain powered platform to address the problem of cumbersome documentation and data storage procedures of the aerospace sector.

The company stated that its blockchain focused subsidiary GoDirect Trade will shift the aircraft related document generation procedure to the blockchain platform.

According to Honewell, the integration will enable customers to explore aerospace parts and other service info via its interface.

Currently, data pertaining to aerospace parts and services are stored on computer systems and physical paper.

This process sometimes results in loss of crucial documents required to prove the authenticity of spare parts by airliners and operators.

GoDirect Trade general manager Lisa Butters stated that by utilizing blockchain, Honeywell aims to document all info associated with thousands of aircraft parts it manufactures and services on a daily basis. The company stated:

“In aerospace, this is a game-changing technology that will simplify and transform recordkeeping for aircraft owners and airlines around the world.”

By documenting all info on a solitary platform, Honeywell anticipates simplifying the procedure of exploring and gaining access to aircraft associated info, and turn data administration more effective for its clients.

Honeywell argues that if documents go missing, clients, with the blockchain platform in place, will be able to recreate the aircraft part’s info and document by keying in the part details and serial number on the respective application.

In this regard, Butters stated:

“Honeywell’s offering is like a search engine, but it works for anything and everything related to aircraft parts and service.”
