Instanodes Develops Quantum-Resistant Accounts for Ethereum and Solana

instanodes

Blockchain infrastructure provider Instanodes has introduced post-quantum account implementations for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks and Solana, expanding its services to address potential security risks associated with advances in quantum computing.

The new offering includes hash-based digital signature implementations, quantum-readiness assessments, and customized cryptographic engineering services. The company is targeting cryptocurrency exchanges, digital asset custodians and blockchain protocol developers seeking to evaluate existing security systems and prepare for future cryptographic changes.

Instanodes provides blockchain infrastructure services, including remote procedure call (RPC) endpoints across more than 50 blockchain networks, dedicated nodes, validator infrastructure, and rollup solutions.

Quantum Computing Raises Concerns Over Blockchain Security

Most existing blockchain account systems depend on elliptic-curve cryptography to authorize transactions and protect digital assets. Although these cryptographic methods currently provide security for blockchain networks, advances in quantum computing research have raised questions about their long-term resilience.

Research published by Google Quantum AI in March 2026 and IonQ in September 2026 presented updated resource estimates examining the potential ability of future fault-tolerant quantum computers to challenge widely used cryptographic techniques.

Such developments have increased attention on the security implications for businesses managing substantial digital asset holdings. Cryptocurrency wallets, custody platforms, smart contracts, and blockchain protocols may depend on cryptographic systems that could eventually require upgrades.

Preparing for these potential risks involves more than replacing existing digital signatures. Organizations must also examine account architecture, private-key management, signature verification, and the mechanisms used to authorize asset transfers.

Instanodes has developed and tested post-quantum account implementations for EVM-compatible networks and Solana using hash-based digital signatures to reduce reliance on conventional elliptic-curve cryptography for account-level authorization.

Hash-Based Signatures Adapted for Ethereum and Solana

The company’s implementations use hash-based digital signatures to verify account authorization. Their verification mechanisms are designed to accommodate the technical requirements and execution environments of individual blockchain networks.

On Ethereum, the technology can be integrated into programmable smart-account architectures, including the ERC-4337 standard. This framework supports customized signature-validation mechanisms, allowing developers to introduce alternative cryptographic verification systems without depending exclusively on conventional account-signature methods.

The approach could provide exchanges, wallet providers, and custodians with additional flexibility when developing account security systems designed to withstand potential future quantum threats.

Solana requires a different implementation approach because of its account architecture and execution environment. Instanodes has developed custom program-level signature verification and asset-control mechanisms to support hash-based authorization.

However, the company clarified that these implementations do not replace Solana’s native transaction-signature infrastructure, which continues to use the Ed25519 signature scheme. Instead, the alternative verification mechanisms operate at the account and program levels.

Instanodes Expands Quantum-Readiness Services

Alongside its post-quantum account implementations, Instanodes is introducing specialized engineering services to help blockchain businesses assess their exposure to emerging cryptographic risks.

Its expanded services cover three primary areas.

Post-quantum account engineering: The company offers hash-based signature implementations for EVM-compatible networks and Solana, with potential integration into wallet, custody, and blockchain protocol architectures.

Quantum-readiness assessments: These services involve examining existing cryptographic dependencies, identifying components that could become vulnerable to quantum computing advances, and preparing structured migration plans.

Custom cryptographic engineering: Instanodes provides development support for hash-based signature systems, on-chain verification mechanisms, ERC-4337 smart accounts and customized Solana programs.

The company will also continue providing its existing infrastructure services, including RPC endpoints, dedicated nodes, validator infrastructure and dedicated blockchain environments across more than 50 networks.

Exchanges and Custodians Face Long-Term Security Challenges

The introduction of post-quantum account engineering reflects growing industry interest in preparing blockchain infrastructure for potential changes in cryptographic security requirements.

Exchanges and custodians managing large digital asset reserves could face particularly significant migration challenges because their systems often involve multiple wallets, authorization layers, and interconnected blockchain applications.

By combining quantum-readiness assessments with customized account implementations, Instanodes aims to help blockchain businesses identify cryptographic vulnerabilities and develop migration strategies before quantum computing creates practical security threats.

The effectiveness and broader adoption of these solutions will depend on continued cryptographic research, implementation testing, and compatibility with individual blockchain networks. Nevertheless, the initiative highlights an emerging area of blockchain infrastructure development as companies begin considering the long-term implications of quantum computing for digital asset security.
