In a notable advancement for South Korea’s Web3 infrastructure, OverProtocol has formalized a strategic partnership with Pocket Network, a decentralized infrastructure platform. This alliance is designed to make Web3 architecture more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible, particularly for the growing blockchain community in Korea.
OverProtocol, a Layer-1 blockchain platform, aims to foster inclusive node participation by significantly lowering the hardware and software requirements for running full nodes. Central to its vision is the integration of everyday users into the blockchain ecosystem, including through its OverFlex marketplace, which offers real-world voucher utilities that appeal to both crypto-savvy users and the broader public.
The collaboration between OverProtocol and Pocket Network is built on a shared goal: to create an open and secure decentralized network that enables widespread node participation. As part of the arrangement, Pocket Network’s decentralized Remote Procedure Call (RPC) layer will be integrated into OverProtocol’s ecosystem. This will not only serve OverProtocol but also extend support to other blockchain networks.
The Pocket Network Foundation is expected to back the initiative by subsidizing gateway throughput. This will be executed through a token swap with OverProtocol, accompanied by technical assistance and an introduction of OverProtocol and SuperBlock into the broader Pocket Network ecosystem.
SuperBlock, the primary contributor to OverProtocol’s development, will become the first official Pocket Network gateway in South Korea. Its role includes helping startups reduce infrastructure expenses, mirroring cloud service models that offer early-stage incentives, such as free credits. This step marks a significant move in leveraging Layer-1 blockchain capabilities within the region and complements the strides made by other local networks like Kaia.
Looking ahead, both entities intend to collaborate on launching a Korean Won (KRW)-pegged stablecoin framework that adheres to domestic regulatory norms. While Pocket Network is set to reinforce the accessibility and stability of the decentralized RPC infrastructure, OverProtocol will facilitate mainstream adoption by embedding the stablecoin into real-world applications. This approach aims to bridge the divide between technical blockchain developments and everyday financial usage.
OverProtocol has already established a global footprint, boasting over 150,000 daily active users and more than 3,400 personal nodes distributed across 143 countries. These achievements reflect the viability of its lightweight node infrastructure, which will now be leveraged to offer reliable and scalable RPC endpoints to Pocket Network.
In its long-term vision, OverProtocol aims to pioneer a decentralized application (dApp) architecture that functions entirely on personal nodes—completely eliminating centralized servers. This decentralized hosting model aligns closely with the philosophies of both OverProtocol and Pocket Network and is anticipated to strengthen the reliability and reach of Web3 platforms globally.
The partnership may also open doors to future innovations, such as enabling decentralized Content Delivery Network (CDN) functionalities for dApps via RPC services, potentially transforming the way content is distributed across blockchain ecosystems.
By merging their technological strengths and shared vision, OverProtocol and Pocket Network are poised to set new benchmarks for decentralized infrastructure, starting with a robust foothold in the South Korean blockchain landscape.
