Mainnet of BitTorrent’s Decentralized File Sharing Protocol BTFS Goes Live

bittorrentBitTorrent File System (BTFS), decentralized file sharing protocol of BitTorrent, has introduced its mainnet. The venture aims to turn into “the world’s largest and first scalable decentralized storage system.”

BTFS unveiled several new features during the event, while activating 3,000 fresh nodes. The company stated that it is another major step in the integration of BitTorrent ecosystem.

“As October approaches, with BTFS integrated into the world’s largest P2P network, BitTorrent, BTFS has completed its official launch of the mainnet, representing a new starting point for BTFS and a big step towards the integration of BitTorrent ecosystem.”

BitTorrent disclosed plans about BTFS in May end, just before it got acquired by Tron, a decentralized blockchain platform. The company also announced its near-term plans for the protocol:

“This integration is expected to be completed in 2020. Meanwhile, BTFS will also be integrated with BitTorrent to benefit over 100 million users with its network services.”

Notably, earlier this week, well known cryptocurrency exchange Binance stated that it is delisting thirty trading pairs permanently, including a pair made up of BitTorrent’s token BTT as constituent.
