MetalCore: Leading the Charge on Immutable zkEVM

metalcore zkevem web3 shooting game

MetalCore, the web3 open-world shooting game, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the inaugural playable title on Immutable zkEVM. The game has commenced its second closed beta phase, running from April 9 to April 22, with player admissions regulated in accordance with an official announcement.

Success of MetalCore’s Beta Phases

Matt Candler, CEO of Studio 369, expressed that MetalCore’s initial beta phase garnered substantial player engagement, noting that the top user completed over 800 missions and accumulated 13,000 kills. Moreover, it was highlighted that over 40% of participants in the second beta were entirely new to the gaming experience.

Unveiling MetalCore: A Glimpse into the Future

MetalCore presents players with a free-to-play gaming experience set in a futuristic realm where factions vie for resources within the expanse of space. Participants are tasked with aligning with a faction and engaging in confrontations either against other players or the game environment itself. While integration with web3 technologies remains optional, the game’s internal economy is fueled by the MCG cryptocurrency, facilitating the acquisition of in-game assets such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Additionally, a distinct currency known as “Marks” can be earned through completing contracts, quests, and participation in guild activities.

Future Prospects for MetalCore

Following the conclusion of the ongoing closed beta phase, MetalCore is scheduled for an open beta launch anticipated by the end of 2024. The game will be accessible on PC through the Epic Games Store, alongside renowned titles like Fortnite. Immutable zkEVM, a platform supporting smart contracts, initiated its mainnet in early access earlier this year. It is essential to distinguish Immutable zkEVM from Immutable X, as the former offers functionality for smart contracts, setting it apart in the realm of blockchain-based gaming platforms.
