NBA Collaborates With CryptoKitties Developer Dapper Labs For Crypto Collectible Game

The United States National Basketball Association (NBA) and its associated union, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), have collaborated with Dapper Labs, which became popular with the launch of CryptoKitties, to unveil a unique crypto collectibles game.

The NBPA website indicates that the forthcoming game is being planned to be unveiled in the beginning of 2020.

The game, referred to as NBA Top Shot, is being designed as an upheaval fierce game based on crypto collectibles. Live clips of NBA games can be gathered by fans and can be utilized in some potential to develop a competitive game or merely owned and traded as a collectible as the user opts for.

Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO of Dapper Labs, gave his opinion on the intended game’s offerings:

“The NBA and its players are among the greatest heavyweights in global culture […] Through NBA Top Shot basketball fans can engage with their favorite players, teams, and each other in entirely new ways. We use the latest in blockchain technology to create assets and experiences that are guaranteed limited edition and authentic, not to mention portable and permanent in a way nothing digital has ever been before.”

Several basketball organizations have started implementing blockchain technology. It can be remembered that, the Sacramento Kings basketball team is working with a cryptocurrency mining hardware company to deploy Ether (ETH) mining system in Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center.

The returns from the venture will be remitted to charity, particularly a scheme named MiningForGood, which concentrates on tech education and workforce development. Furthermore, the Cleveland Cavaliers has signed up crypto firm UnitedCoin as its official associate.

The partnership will permit UnitedCoin to obtain advertising through the Cavs, and also provide a fintech entry to the basketball team.
