Nigeria’s DAMA Academy Unveils Blockchain-Based BodyScan AI Platform

Nigeria

A new digital health innovation combining blockchain technology, digital assets, and artificial intelligence has been formally unveiled in Abuja during a press conference organized by DAMA Academy in collaboration with the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation Centre. The event focused on the growing intersection of blockchain, digital assets, and AI, highlighting how these technologies can be applied to real-world challenges rather than remaining theoretical concepts.

At the center of the presentation was BodyScan AI, an artificial intelligence–driven health application developed to modernize medical diagnostics, enhance data security, and improve personal wellness management. The platform was introduced as a flagship example of how emerging technologies can be integrated into a single ecosystem to address longstanding gaps in healthcare delivery.

Vision for Practical Technology Adoption

Nwankwo Prince Ozioma, Chief Executive Officer of DAMA Academy, explained that the initiative is intended to reposition advanced technologies as practical tools for national development. He outlined that blockchain provides transparency, decentralization, and data integrity without reliance on intermediaries, while artificial intelligence improves diagnostic accuracy and supports informed decision-making.

He further explained that the convergence of blockchain and AI enables the creation of secure, intelligent systems capable of delivering measurable benefits in healthcare and beyond. According to him, these technologies are most powerful when applied together, as blockchain secures and validates data while AI extracts actionable insights from it.

Nwankwo provided additional technical context alongside other academy representatives, including Michael Chuzie Chukwuezie, Paul Audu, and Victor Ofuyatan. Together, they described BodyScan AI as a unified platform built on three foundational pillars: blockchain, digital assets, and artificial intelligence.

How the BodyScan AI Platform Works

The AI component of BodyScan AI is designed to analyze medical and wellness data with a high degree of precision. The system assists users in monitoring physical conditions, tracking wellness indicators, and identifying potential health risks in near real time. Users can access health assessments remotely, reducing the need for frequent hospital visits and supporting more proactive health management.

The platform also incorporates advanced imaging and data-processing capabilities to aid in the early detection of medical conditions. In addition, users can monitor fitness performance, wellness progress, and other health metrics directly from mobile devices, making the system accessible and user-centric.

Blockchain technology underpins the platform’s data architecture. Organizers explained that medical records stored on the system are secured through decentralized storage, making them tamper-resistant and privately controlled by users. Ownership of health data remains with individuals, who can choose to share information directly with medical professionals without third-party interference. Access to records is governed strictly by user consent.

Digital Assets and Incentivized Participation

A distinctive feature of BodyScan AI is its integration of digital assets into the health ecosystem. Users earn digital tokens by participating in health-related activities, consenting to data sharing for research purposes, or engaging in wellness programs offered through the platform. These tokens can be redeemed for services such as advanced medical consultations, fitness programs, medical supplies, and other wellness-related offerings available within the platform’s marketplace.

Nwankwo described digital assets as non-physical properties that exist in digital form while carrying ownership rights and measurable value. He noted that the incentive structure is intended to promote responsible data sharing while encouraging broader participation in health innovation.

Implications for Research and National Development

Developers also emphasized the platform’s potential contribution to medical research. Anonymized health data, when shared with user permission, could support scientific studies, improve diagnostic methodologies, and contribute to global health advancements.

From the United Kingdom, Moses Obahe addressed the conference remotely, stressing that blockchain encryption and decentralization protect user identities while enabling large-scale data analysis.

Speakers at the event also highlighted the broader role of blockchain and AI in enhancing transparency, strengthening financial systems, and driving innovation across multiple sectors. They called for greater public education, responsible adoption, and regulatory awareness to mitigate misuse and speculation.

Shiphrah Poloma noted that the initiative aligns with a broader mission to empower young professionals, entrepreneurs, and healthcare practitioners to leverage advanced technologies for economic growth. She also encouraged retirees and those approaching retirement to explore BodyScan AI as part of long-term financial and wellness planning.

Overall, organizers expressed optimism that the convergence of blockchain, digital assets, and artificial intelligence would unlock new opportunities in healthcare delivery, financial inclusion, and digital innovation across Nigeria and beyond.
