Nippon Airways Unveil Aeronautical Themed NFT Marketplace

ANA Neo, a subsidiary of All Nippon Airways (ANA), which is the largest airline in Japan, has recently introduced an NFT marketplace with an aeronautical theme. The ANA GranWhale NFT Marketplace platform will showcase a collection initially designed by Luke Ozawa, an aerial photographer. As per the developers, the initial digital photograph captured by the aerial photographer Luke Ozawa will be transformed into NFT on May 30th. A positive film, which serves as the source of photo development, will be included in the sale. An NFT featuring a positive film is scheduled to be auctioned off for a price of 100,000 yen.

On June 7, the second set of NFTs will be made available for purchase. These NFTs depict the first Boeing 787 that was operated by ANA, but in image form. This product is marketed as a three-dimensional model of an aircraft. According to ANA’s statement, the total number of items is 1,574, with 787 items of each type, and the cost amounts to 7,870 yen.

During its most recent fiscal year, ANA, which is Japan’s largest airline, generated a revenue of $12.2 billion. The corporation has announced its plans to broaden the NFT product range in the coming days and improve the customer experience by commercializing NFTs.

The development of GranWhale, ANA Neo’s virtual travel platform that utilizes advanced technology, such as VR, to replicate global destinations and cultures through metaverse parks, was initiated in August of the previous year. In a previous statement, Mitsuo Tomita, the President of ANA Neo, explained that the arrow depicted in the company’s logo represents both the virtual and the real. The combination of these two elements symbolizes ANA GranWhale’s trajectory towards a future characterized by stability and growth. This future is expected to witness an increase in the prevalence of Web 3.0 and metaverse travel.
