The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has selected Broadridge Financial Solutions to provide blockchain-based shareholder governance and digital transfer agency services for its planned tokenized securities platform. The agreement marks another step in the exchange’s efforts to develop infrastructure that could allow traditional equities to operate on blockchain networks.
Broadridge announced the arrangement on November 2, 2026. Under the agreement, the financial technology company will support shareholder records, corporate communications, and voting processes as publicly traded companies explore issuing and managing tokenized shares.
The partnership will introduce blockchain-based governance infrastructure designed to support shareholder voting, digital ownership records and the administration of tokenized equities.
The development adds an established financial services provider to the NYSE’s growing group of technology partners. The exchange is working to assemble the infrastructure required to connect traditional stock market operations with blockchain-based financial systems.
Broadridge to Develop Onchain Shareholder Governance
Broadridge will contribute several services to the planned platform, including smart contract-based governance mechanisms, proxy voting systems, and digital wallet authentication tools.
These capabilities are intended to help companies manage shareholder participation when their securities are represented as digital tokens on a blockchain. The infrastructure could also support the execution of corporate governance procedures through automated software.
Smart contracts are programs deployed on blockchain networks that automatically execute predefined instructions when specified conditions are met. In the context of shareholder governance, these contracts could incorporate company voting requirements and procedures directly into the digital infrastructure.
The arrangement is expected to make it possible to administer shareholder voting through blockchain-based systems while maintaining the governance requirements associated with publicly listed companies.
Digital wallet authentication will also form part of Broadridge’s responsibilities. Such tools are important because tokenized securities require mechanisms to establish ownership and verify whether digital wallet holders are authorized to participate in corporate decisions.
Traditional Transfer Agency Services to Continue
Alongside its blockchain-related responsibilities, Broadridge will continue providing conventional transfer agency services.
The company will support both tokenized securities and traditional equities, allowing businesses to manage different forms of share ownership within the same broader administrative framework.
This approach addresses an important challenge facing the tokenization of financial markets. Existing public companies have established shareholder records, regulatory obligations and administrative procedures that cannot simply be replaced when securities move onto blockchain infrastructure.
Maintaining support for conventional and tokenized shares could therefore help companies transition toward digital securities without requiring an immediate overhaul of their existing shareholder management systems.
Broadridge Chief Executive Officer Tim Gokey described the company’s involvement as an effort to establish the governance infrastructure required for tokenized equities.
NYSE Expands Its Tokenized Securities Partnerships
Broadridge joins Securitize and tZERO among the companies involved in the NYSE’s planned tokenized securities initiative.
The exchange first outlined its tokenized securities platform in January 2026 as part of its broader efforts to explore blockchain-based financial market infrastructure.
In March 2026, Securitize was identified as the platform’s initial digital transfer agent through a memorandum of understanding with the NYSE. Its involvement established an early component of the exchange’s planned digital securities infrastructure.
The addition of Broadridge expands the project’s focus toward shareholder governance and corporate administration, while tZERO adds another participant to the developing ecosystem.
Together, these partnerships reflect the range of services required to support tokenized equities, extending beyond the digital representation of shares to include ownership administration, investor communications, and corporate voting.
Regulatory Approval Remains an Important Milestone
Despite the progress in assembling its technology partners, the NYSE’s tokenized securities initiative still requires regulatory approval before the planned platform can move forward as intended.
The development of blockchain-based stock market infrastructure also involves questions surrounding investor protection, shareholder rights, securities administration, and compliance with existing financial regulations.
By combining Broadridge’s established shareholder services with blockchain-based governance technology, the NYSE is seeking to bridge conventional equity markets and emerging digital securities infrastructure.
The partnership highlights how established financial technology providers could play an important role in bringing tokenization into traditional capital markets. The eventual impact will depend on regulatory decisions, platform implementation, and adoption by publicly traded companies.
