Polygon Chosen for Blockchain Based Online Police Complaint Platform in India

As per news reports, the 2.8 million reported residents of India’s Firozabad district will have access to a new police complaint system that utilizes blockchain technology to avoid deceptive activities.

Yesterday, Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, announced through a series of tweets that the Firozabad police in Uttar Pradesh are using the Polygon blockchain technology to combat local police corruption and criminality. The technology, known as the First Information Report (FIR), enables victims of crimes to register complaints against local police officers without the possibility of complaint officers manipulating the reports.

Nailwal noted, putting FIR on the blockchain ensures that complaints cannot be disputed by lower-level police. Through an announcement, Nailwal showered appreciation on the police commissioner for going above and beyond the call of duty to implement technology for the administration of justice. Members of the cryptocurrency community saw the declaration from the Firozabad police as an important development for Polygon, blockchain, and Firozabad residents.

In addition, news reports indicated that Kashif Raza, the founder of Bitinning, a cryptocurrency education startup, stated on Twitter that the first complaint portal on Polygon is anticipated to offer benefits such as immutability, verifiability, and ease of filing, among others, in relation to complaints. Polygon has announced a cooperation with the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation (OCEEF) to promote ocean literacy by exposing people to deep undersea expeditions in novel ways.
