Sei Labs has acquired Bilinear Labs, a data analytics and indexing platform, in a deal announced in September 2026 as the blockchain developer moves to strengthen its internal infrastructure capabilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Bilinear Labs’ team will join Sei Labs and contribute to development across the Sei Network, Sei Giga, and other projects. The acquisition brings Bilinear’s engineering expertise and experience in blockchain data indexing directly into Sei’s development organization.
The acquisition is expected to give Sei Labs greater access to specialized data infrastructure expertise as it works to expand the capabilities and scale of its blockchain ecosystem.
Bilinear Labs is scheduled to cease operations on September 14, ending its run as an independent platform. The company developed its infrastructure in Rust and built a system capable of indexing hundreds of billions of blockchain events, highlighting the scale of the technical capabilities being absorbed by Sei Labs.
Indexing Technology Moves In-House
Bilinear also developed BYOABI technology, adding to the technical assets that will become part of Sei Labs’ broader infrastructure efforts. Blockchain indexing is an important component of decentralized application development because it allows developers and users to organize and retrieve blockchain activity more efficiently than relying solely on raw network data.
With the acquisition, Bilinear’s technology and engineering talent will shift from supporting a standalone data platform toward contributing directly to Sei’s own infrastructure. The move could allow Sei Labs to integrate specialized indexing capabilities more closely with its blockchain architecture and development priorities.
The transaction represents a traditional acqui-hire structure, in which a company is acquired primarily for its engineering team, technical expertise, and intellectual property rather than for the continued operation of its existing standalone business.
For Sei Labs, bringing the Bilinear team inside the organization could shorten the time required to develop and improve infrastructure needed for a growing blockchain network. Instead of building comparable expertise internally from the beginning, Sei can incorporate engineers who have already worked on large-scale blockchain data systems.

Blockchain Infrastructure Race Intensifies
The deal comes as blockchain networks increasingly compete on infrastructure, scalability and developer tools. As networks process larger volumes of transactions and applications generate more on-chain activity, efficient indexing and data access have become increasingly important for decentralized applications, analytics platforms and other blockchain services.
Bilinear’s experience processing hundreds of billions of events gives Sei access to a team with exposure to large-scale data infrastructure. Integrating that expertise could help Sei improve the way developers access and work with blockchain data while supporting the network’s broader push toward higher performance and scalability.
The acquisition also illustrates how blockchain companies are using acquisitions to address specialized engineering requirements. Data indexing, analytics, interoperability, and infrastructure engineering often require highly technical teams, making established specialists potentially valuable targets for larger blockchain developers.
Sei Labs’ decision to absorb Bilinear rather than maintain the platform as a separate operation indicates that the primary objective is likely to strengthen Sei’s own technology stack. Bilinear’s closure on September 14 means its resources and personnel will instead be redirected toward projects within the Sei ecosystem.
The transaction therefore marks a shift from an independent data infrastructure business toward direct blockchain network development. By bringing Bilinear’s engineers and indexing technology in-house, Sei Labs is positioning the acquired expertise as part of its longer-term infrastructure strategy rather than continuing it as a separate commercial product.
