South Korean economic and industrial news outlet Etoday and blockchain and digital asset media company Nexblock have signed a memorandum of understanding with global Web3 data platform RootData to explore collaboration on blockchain and digital asset data and content.

The agreement, announced on September 2, is aimed at improving access for South Korean users to information covering the global Web3 industry. The planned data coverage includes blockchain projects, investment and financing activity, investment institutions, token unlock schedules and measures of market attention.

The partnership will examine how RootData’s Web3 data can be integrated with Etoday’s and Nexblock’s existing content and data services, potentially creating new data-driven resources for Korean readers and users.

The companies said their initial focus would be on testing data connections and identifying the types of information and service formats that provide the most value to the South Korean market. The scope of the cooperation is expected to expand gradually depending on the results of these tests and feedback from users and the broader market.

Etoday and Nexblock to expand Web3 data services

RootData provides data covering several areas of the blockchain industry, including Web3 projects, investment firms, funding rounds, token unlocks and project popularity. Its data is expected to give Etoday a stronger foundation for reporting on blockchain and digital asset markets.

Etoday plans to use the data to enhance its coverage of developments across the global Web3 sector, with an emphasis on tracking projects and investment activity. The partnership could allow its readers to gain more structured insight into developments that extend beyond South Korea’s domestic digital asset market.

Nexblock, meanwhile, will explore ways to combine professional Web3 content with data services. The areas under consideration include project information, investment trends, token unlock activity and broader market developments.

The collaboration reflects growing interest in using structured industry data to support digital asset reporting and analysis. Rather than limiting coverage to individual market events, the proposed services could give users tools to monitor broader trends across projects, capital flows and market activity.

Focus on global projects and investment flows

Etoday Vice Chairman Lee Jong-jae said the South Korean Web3 market was experiencing increasing demand for content supported by data that could systematically track global projects and investment movements. He indicated that the partnership would support the development of data-focused content designed to help Korean readers understand wider trends in the international Web3 industry.

RootData Co-founder YuBo Pan said South Korea represented an important market for Web3 and remained a significant part of the company’s plans for future expansion. He said the partnership would provide an opportunity to introduce RootData’s data capabilities to South Korean users and business partners through cooperation with Etoday and Nexblock.

The companies plan to use the MOU as a starting point for broader discussions on applications of blockchain and digital asset data, including data-driven content, project information, market analysis and joint promotional initiatives.

The initial testing phase will play a key role in determining which services are ultimately developed. The companies are expected to assess user demand, data integration requirements and market responses before expanding the partnership.

Broader implications for South Korea’s Web3 sector

The agreement comes as blockchain and digital asset participants increasingly rely on structured data to evaluate projects, funding activity and market developments. For media organizations, access to consolidated and specialized data can also support more detailed reporting and analysis.

The planned cooperation between Etoday, Nexblock and RootData could therefore create new ways for Korean users to follow global Web3 developments through locally accessible content and data services.

If the initial data-linkage tests prove successful, the collaboration could evolve into a broader platform of Web3 information and market-analysis services tailored to South Korean users.

The parties have not outlined a final product or launch schedule. Instead, the MOU establishes a framework for evaluating potential applications and determining the most effective areas for long-term cooperation based on testing and market feedback.
