StraitsX plans to issue its Singapore dollar and U.S. dollar stablecoins on the Monad blockchain, with XSGD set to become the network’s first Singapore dollar-denominated stablecoin issued natively on the platform.
The Singapore-based payments company expects the launch of XSGD and XUSD in early 2027, subject to technical, regulatory, and compliance requirements. The planned expansion would bring StraitsX’s regulated stablecoin infrastructure to Monad, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 1 blockchain focused on financial applications.
The planned Monad deployment would give developers, businesses and institutions access to a Singapore dollar stablecoin alongside a U.S. dollar-denominated asset, expanding the network’s options for digital payments and settlement.
Focus on Payments and Settlement
StraitsX said the planned integration is intended to support payment and settlement applications, including card-related products and cross-border transaction flows. The company has processed nearly $70 billion in stablecoin transaction volume across its infrastructure to date, providing an existing base for its expansion into another blockchain ecosystem.
Faster payments and Singapore dollar card settlement are among the potential objectives identified for the Monad deployment. However, specific products involving XSGD or XUSD would require additional assessments and remain dependent on regulatory, compliance and partner requirements.
StraitsX entities issue both stablecoins under Major Payment Institution licenses granted pursuant to Singapore’s Payment Services Act. The tokens have also been recognized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as substantively compliant with the forthcoming framework for single-currency stablecoins.
The regulatory status is significant as stablecoin issuers face increasing scrutiny over reserve management, financial crime controls and the use of digital assets in mainstream payment systems. Any expansion of XSGD and XUSD on Monad would therefore have to account for applicable requirements, including measures addressing money laundering and terrorism financing risks.
XSGD Expands Across the Ethereum Ecosystem
Monad’s compatibility with Ethereum-based technology is a central part of the planned deployment. The network is designed to work with Ethereum tools, wallets and applications, potentially reducing integration barriers for stablecoin issuers and financial service providers.
For StraitsX, that interoperability could provide access to an ecosystem that already supports digital asset infrastructure, liquidity venues and decentralized financial applications. The planned launch would therefore extend XSGD beyond the company’s existing infrastructure while placing the token within a broader blockchain environment.
Singapore dollar stablecoins remain a more specialized segment of the market compared with U.S. dollar-backed tokens, but digital representations of the Singapore dollar could have applications in regional commerce, treasury operations and cross-border settlement.
By bringing both XSGD and XUSD to Monad, StraitsX would enable users to access Singapore dollar and U.S. dollar-denominated digital assets on the same network, potentially supporting a wider range of payment and settlement flows.
Monad Targets High-Volume Financial Activity
Monad has positioned its blockchain as infrastructure for financial applications, with an emphasis on transaction speed, cost efficiency and compatibility with the wider Ethereum ecosystem.
Those characteristics are relevant to stablecoin-based payment systems, where transaction infrastructure must support potentially high volumes while connecting with wallets, liquidity providers and financial applications.

The planned integration also reflects a broader industry shift in which stablecoin issuers are seeking applications beyond cryptocurrency trading. Payments, remittances and settlement have become important potential use cases as financial institutions and businesses explore blockchain-based alternatives for moving value.
For Monad, adding XSGD would expand the range of currencies available to its ecosystem. The presence of a regulated Singapore dollar stablecoin could also give businesses operating across Asian markets another option for on-chain settlement.
XUSD would complement XSGD by providing a U.S. dollar-denominated asset, potentially allowing users and businesses to conduct transactions involving both currencies within the same blockchain environment.
Launch Remains Subject to Approvals
The early 2027 target remains conditional on technical implementation as well as regulatory and compliance requirements. StraitsX has indicated that future payment and card products will depend on assessments involving regulators and partners.
The approach reflects the importance of regulatory compliance as stablecoins move closer to mainstream financial services. Issuers must maintain controls that satisfy regulators and financial institutions while also ensuring that blockchain infrastructure can support practical payment applications.
The planned launch could strengthen Monad’s position as financial infrastructure while giving StraitsX another distribution channel for regulated stablecoins and creating potential new payment and settlement use cases across Asian markets.
