Streaming Facility Provider DLive Joins BitTorrent Ecosystem

bittorrentBitTorrent, which facilitates P2P file sharing, stated that DLive, the blockchain powered live streaming facility provider, will become a member of its network.

Through this collaboration, DLive will draw P2P content sharing and real time streaming abilities to BitTorrent’s monthly active clients of over 100 million.

Justin Sun, CEO of BitTorrent, opined that the content suspension saga sparked by YouTube has made the future bright for decentralized platforms facilitating content streaming.

“It’s unfortunate to see content platforms such as YouTube taking down crypto-related content, this is the issue with centralized agencies. Decentralized content platforms such as TRON’s newest partner DLive are the platforms of the future.”

DLive, unveiled 2 years back, currently has more than 5 million monthly active users and an enthusiastic real-time streaming forum. In April 2019, PewDiePie, one of the popular Youtubers, carried out his initial real-time streaming on DLive.

Since then, PewDiePie has partnered with YouTubers like Ninja, Jack Black and James Charles to co-stream on YouTubers. Sun pointed out that DLive is one of the popular blockchain powered platforms facilitating live streaming of content.

“DLive is one of the best real-world examples of what is possible when you combine blockchain and digital media. DLive is a great solution for live media producers. Think of how valuable live streaming content is already to centralized social media platforms who take ownership and advantage of their users’ hard work. We look forward to DLive bringing value to the entire world with the addition of TRON and BitTorrent’s global community of passionate creators.”

DLive will combine its account systems with BitTorrent’s in order to bring the communities together. As an example, BLive, the real-time streaming platform unveiled by BitTorrent earlier this year, will shift to DLive, bringing the teams together. DLive will also market their products and services on BitTorrent networks to create awareness about content sharing on decentralized networks.

DLive’s CEO, Charles Wayn, noted that he is looking forward to the integration.

We are ecstatic to have the opportunity to be part of the BitTorrent ecosystem. I’ve watched them pioneer the digital peer-to-peer space. DLive’s goal of empowering creators and rewarding communities is one step closer with the amplification of this new venture.”

DLive, which is developed on the Lino blockchain (earlier hosted on STEEM network), will shift to the Tron blockchain as an outcome of the partnership. Tron took over BitTorrent in July 2018 to sandwich the platforms together in an attempt to establish the world’s biggest decentralized covenant for sharing.

DLive intends to continue backing the Lino blockchain until the shift to the Tron blockchain gets finished. While the Lino blockchain framework will be incorporated in BitTorrent, the LINIO crypto utilized by DLive to reward content providers will not be the base unit of value in the latest ecosystem.

For smooth integration of BitTorrent’s BTT crypto into the prevailing DLive platform, the latter intends to offer rewards to prevailing users to transform from the Lino blockchain to the BitTorrent ecosystem.

DLive intends to utilize BitTorrent’s latest facility, named BitTorrent Filesharing System (BTFS), for storing files. Sun argues that it is almost impossible to amend or delete information from BTFS as it is one of the largest decentralized networks currently active across the globe.

BitTorrent, notably, intends to partner with cryptocurrency influencers to illustrate how BTFS guarantees content to remain online.

“We plan to work with crypto influencers, as many have experienced their content being deleted on YouTube, Twitter, Reddit and other centralized platforms. As long as they use the BTFS network, it will be impossible to delete content, as everything is distributed across BitTorrent users’ computers globally.”

Furthermore, Sun indicated that the BTFS network is totoally free of a centralized control, facilitating DLive to transform into a perfectly decentralized network in the forthcoming months.

“All the content on DLive is currently monitored by a dedicated team to ensure adherence to their community guidelines. This partnership takes us closer to our goal of making the TRON BitTorrent ecosystem a developer’s paradise. We want to bring all of our developers customized tools together with an engaged audience so they can share their projects. The same is true for DLive. We want DLive live streamers and content creators to have access to the largest peer-to-peer audience in the world, one that is free from a centralized authority.”

Sun has announced that the BTFS network will be rolled out in the first quarter of 2020.
