Thunes Expands Stablecoin Treasury Support With EURC

thunes

Thunes has expanded its stablecoin liquidity management capabilities by introducing EURC prefunding, allowing eligible members of its Direct Global Network to use Circle’s euro-backed stablecoin for treasury funding and cross-border payment operations.

The move adds EURC to Thunes’ existing stablecoin liquidity infrastructure and builds on its collaboration with Circle that began in October 2024. That earlier initiative introduced USDC-based liquidity to the Thunes Direct Global Network. The addition of EURC is designed to provide network members with another option for managing liquidity and funding payment transactions around the clock.

EURC prefunding allows eligible Thunes network members to fund euro transactions continuously, including outside conventional banking hours, weekends and holidays, giving businesses greater flexibility to respond to changes in payment demand.

For businesses handling international payment flows, the ability to use EURC for prefunding could reduce some of the operational constraints associated with traditional banking systems. Network members can use the stablecoin to maintain liquidity for high-value euro transactions and move funds when required rather than waiting for banking systems to reopen.

The arrangement is also intended to improve treasury management by enabling faster movement of funds between different parts of a payment operation. This could be particularly relevant for fintech companies, neobanks, payment service providers and platforms serving gig-economy workers, where payment requirements can change rapidly, and uninterrupted liquidity can be important.

Multi-Blockchain Support

Thunes said its network-agnostic architecture enables EURC prefunding across several major blockchain networks. These include Ethereum, Solana, Base and Stellar, giving eligible members flexibility in choosing the blockchain infrastructure that best suits their operational requirements.

The broader Thunes network connects digital assets with more than 90 fiat currencies, allowing participating businesses to move funds between traditional and blockchain-based financial ecosystems. The company said the infrastructure is intended to support instant settlement while reducing friction between digital assets and conventional currencies.

The integration also enables Web3-focused businesses to fund Thunes accounts directly from digital treasury holdings using a MiCA-compliant euro asset, potentially eliminating the need to convert digital assets into fiat before funding accounts.

This approach could help companies reduce the time and operational expense associated with moving funds through multiple conversion stages. It also provides businesses with a regulated euro-denominated digital asset for treasury management, while maintaining access to Thunes’ global payment network.

Circle Partnership Expands

Thunes’ EURC initiative extends its relationship with Circle, whose regulated affiliates issue EURC and USDC. EURC is a euro-backed stablecoin designed to provide digital access to euro liquidity and is compliant with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulatory framework.

Chloé Mayenobe, deputy CEO of Thunes, said the company viewed EURC integration as a continuation of its strategy to connect traditional fiat currencies with the digital asset economy. She said supporting a MiCA-compliant euro asset across multiple blockchain networks would give partners greater flexibility to manage treasury flows, handle traffic surges and move value continuously.

Circle Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi said the integration demonstrated how stablecoins could be applied to practical global payment infrastructure. He said EURC-based treasury funding could give businesses access to regulated euro liquidity while providing the speed, flexibility and operational continuity required for modern cross-border payments.

With EURC now joining USDC within Thunes’ liquidity framework, the company is broadening the digital asset options available to its network members. The development strengthens the connection between blockchain-based liquidity and global fiat payment infrastructure, with the potential to make cross-border treasury operations faster and more responsive.
