UAE’s Liber Health to Use Blockchain Tech for Contactless Identification of Covid-19 Infections

in5, UAE headquartered firm fostering startups, is aiding the creation of blockchain powered approaches to minimize the spread of Covid-19 in the country and in turn flatten the curve.

As per media reports, Liber Health, backed by in5, has created a platform, with blockchain as the underlying technology, to assist in the identification of coronavirus infected people.

The platform aids contactless process to validate the biometric ID info and scrutinize doubted people with Covid-19 symptoms.

Liber Health believes that by monitoring patients who were in touch with suspected coronavirus infected patients, quarantine measures can be taken without any time delay, which may prove dearly.

Liber Health intends to widen interactions with top public and private sector firms, mainly in UAE, to employ the technology and minimize the number of coronavirus infections.

Syed Abrar Ahmed, CEO of Liber Health, believes that the platform could rescue “thousands of patient lives lost due to medical errors” and scarcity of verifiable info. The same argument is echoed by Dr. Sana Farid, founder and CEO of the consulting firm Munfarid.

In5 also intends to capitalize on 3D printing and robotics to build personal protective equipment (PPE) for front line healthcare staffs in the country. The suggested robot will ensure that children remain engaged at home while establishing a contactless biometric ID system.

Majed Al Suwaidi, managing director of Dubai Media City and in5 lead, highlighted the work done by experts in the city:

“Dubai has always been a hub for talent, and we enable highly-skilled individuals with innovative ideas to thrive across our sector-focused ecosystems. Some of the sharpest minds are now creating potentially life-saving products and services to beat the virus, while others are proactively reaching out to relevant authorities to provide knowledge and expertise.”

Notably, Ubirch, an IoT blockchain startup, has entered into a collaboration with Nasdaq listed Centogene on April 17.

The collaboration intends to develop a solution to safely handle the outcome of coronavirus infection testing on a mass scale.

Even in Latim America, blockchain powered systems are utilized to mitigate Covid-19 problems. Similarly, in Colombia, there is a rising adoption of cryptographic and blockchain solutions.
