Bitwise launches 3 New Index Services, Forms Crypto Advisory Board

Creator of the first ever cryptocurrency index fund, Bitwise Index Services, LLC, has launched three more new indices based on the crypto assets. While one of the indices covers the total market, the other two covers small-cap and mid-cap cryptos.

Additionally, Bitwise has roped in crypto industry and market experts to assemble a new advisory board.

Crypto Index Family

Including the crypto index launched earlier, Bitwise offers four kinds of crypto indices. They are Bitwise 100 Total market Crypto Index (ticker: BITW100), which covers the entire crypto market, Bitwise 20 Mid Cap Crypto Index (ticker: BITW20), which covers mid-cap cryptos, and Bitwise 70 Small Cap Crypto Index (ticker: BITW70), which covers small-cap cryptos. Additionally, Bitwise has renamed HOLD 10 crypto index as Bitwise 10 Large Cap Crypto Index (ticker:BTX). This index is purely based on the top 10 cryptocurrency assets by market cap.

All the above mentioned indices are offered on the financial data platforms of Bloomberg, Reuters and FactSet. Furthermore, the indices are also offered on Bitwise website. Furthermore, Bitwise is also offering API access and complimentary benchmarking for hedge funds and analysts who are looking for reliable and top quality crypto data.

Index Advisory Board

Bitwise has also launched an index advisory board to improve its indexes. The board includes Srikant Dash, Bloomberg’s former global head of indexing. Previously, Srikant also worked for Standard & Poor’s Indices as the managing director and global head of research. Notably, the indices he developed include more than $200 billion worth ETF assets. Additionally, he has been serving as the member of the S&P 500 Index Committee for a long time. Bitwise believe that his entry in the board will enable rapid development of the crypto indices segment.

Other notable member on the board is Spencer Bogart, head of research and partner at Blockchain Capital. Matt Hougan, a respected name in the ETF industry is also joining the board. Hougan, the former CEO of ETF.com, also heads global research of Bitwise. Other prominent positions held by Hougan include three time membership at Barron’s ETF roundtable and CEO of Inside ETFs.
