MediConnect Finishes PoC to Trace Medication Via the Supply Chain

Blockchain firm Mediconnect has finished the basic plan for the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) structured to trace medications via the supply chain and started amalgamation of web-based pharmacy UK Meds’ procedures to its platform.

MediConnect has setup a foundation and procedure for PoC completion, enabling tracing and administering of prescription medication via the supply chain, from producers to consumers.

Next year, MediConnect also intends to finish a pilot project involving a maximum of 10 participants. As part of the trial, MediConnect will combine online pharmacy UK Meds’ processes into its blockchain powered platform, facilitating product tracing via its supply chain and halt the wrong use of prescription medications.

Earlier in 2019, the Ugandan government collaborated with MediConnect to track counterfeit medicines in the country.

As in the case of UK Meds, the blockchain powered platform facilitates the storing of prescription medication, thereby pinpointing fake drugs and halting their allocation in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

The capability of blockchain technology in the healthcare and supply chain industry is acknowledged by governments and institutions across the globe. Of late, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention introduced a blockchain platform for storing and distributing healthcare information.

Nebula Genomics, a tech firm, introduced anonymous genetic trial earlier this month, facilitating customers to go for whole genome sequencing by offering saliva samples without sharing personal info such as name, credit card details or address.
