The centre will be focused on ongoing blockchain advancement, talent furtherance, and education across Africa. The centre will be headed by Kevin Imani, who established Sankore. The centre will comprise an academy, events, an incubation program, and the Sankore Bounty environment. Beyond Nairobi, NEAR will also function in hardly heard Kenyan cities where no other Layer 1 blockchain has made an established presence.
Imani stated that the ambition is to spearhead the domain of blockchain advancement by offering solutions to top issues faced by the African continent. The NEAR Protocol paves way for tomorrow’s top developers to create tailor-made solutions with safety, scalability, and openness and this center is the subsequent move in transforming the shared objective into reality.
The education division of the venture has joined hands with Kenyan universities and has enrolled students on training programs, and six students have already received official certification as developers. Sankore has earlier received domestic attention by backing ventures such as Kilimo Shwari, an on-chain platform intending to protect Kenyan farmers against agriculture unpredictability such as natural calamities, among others. The insurance is offered using smart contracts, which aggregate information on uncertainties and automatically provide remedies to farmers.
