BitFlyer & Brave Partner to Create New Crypto Wallet
BitFlyer, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Japan by way of trading volume, has entered into collaboration with Brave, a browser safeguarding privacy. As per announcement, BitFlyer and Brave will create “a crypto asset wallet for Brave browser users.”
However, additional details about the new cryptocurrency wallet were not provided. Those who utilize Brave browser in Japan are awarded Basic Attention Token Points (BAP), instead of tokens, as the country’s laws does not allow earning of cryptocurrency BAT or redeem their points for money via cryptocurrency exchanges.
The declaration will probably spark speculation that new cryptocurrency wallet could lay down the path for Japanese users to generate BAT, in lieu of BAP, or in some manner.
A Brave executive issued the following statement:
“At this point, we are using ‘points’ to reward users but there are some limits. [Through the partnership] we think it may be possible to go beyond that”
BitFlyer detailed that additional info about the cryptocurrency wallet will be disclosed at a meeting conducted on July 30 in Tokyo in which Brendan Eich, the founder of Brave will take part. The meeting primarily targets advertisers.
Brave is turning out to be progressively popular in Japan. In June, Brave collaborated with “BTS,” a Korean pop idol group (also referred to as Bantan Boys), and Japanese esports team Rush Gaming to create browsers solely for users in Japan.
With regards to Rush Gaming, users of limited release browser can generate BAP by viewing advertisements. The BAP can also be utilized to back Rush Gaming’s esports team. Of late, BitFlyer and several Japanese cryptocurrency exchanges listed Brave’s native crypto token BAT.
BitFlyer did not reveal the kind of additional features that will be provided for wallet users, but said:
“Brave is the BAT connected browser and browsing is an everyday activity. It will be a new opportunity for users to use and earn cryptocurrency and we see it as a new model case to show the potential of cryptocurrency […] We want to make people feel more familiar with cryptocurrency through the partnership with Brave”
BitFlyer and Brave also intend to roll out a joint promotion campaign in Japan “to expand the recognition of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology among our customers and to improve customer convenience.”
