Irish Red Cross To Use Blockchain For Donation Transparency

Aid: Tech, a Dublin- based start- up that has created blockchain technology to disburse global aid to refugee camps, has joined with the Irish Red Cross for a new app that brings lucidity to charitable contributions.

The start-up, which was selected as the winner of the overall Irish Times Innovation of the Year award last month, said its latest TraceDonate app permits donors to track accurately what for their contribution is used up. It also permits them to monitor their contribution history and to stay knowledgeable about charitable campaigns.

Non-governmental organizations can employ the app to accept gifts straight and to build branded pages for particular campaigns.

Liam O’Dwyer, secretary general of the Irish Red Cross, said “By partnering with a company as innovative and ambitious as AID:Tech, we hope to empower those who support the work of the Irish Red Cross to track their donations and in turn further promote transparency in the sector.”

Liam O’Dwyer further said “We want to become the benchmark for the donation process, and our relationship with AID:Tech provides us with that opportunity.”

Established in 2014, Aid: Tech’s software platform offers facilities such as assistance, welfare, payments, aid and healthcare to be digitized and conveyed in a completely straightforward way through blockchain technology.

Aid: Tech, the foremost company in the world to offer global aid utilizing blockchain to Syrian refugees in northern Lebanon, raised an evaluated €1 million earlier this year from followers including Enterprise Ireland SGInnovate, the venture capital division of the Singaporean Development Authority.

It was the first time a state-backed organization invested money into a blockchain company.
