Thailand Petroleum Trials Blockchain Powered Commercial Microgrid For Mall & Fuel Station

Thailand based petroleum refiner Bangchak Corporation Public Co Limited (BCP) is trialing and proving a commercial microgrid and blockchain based power trading platform at a local shopping center and a BCP fuel station in Bangkok.

The microgrid electricity generation and distribution service is built to accommodate the regular energy needs of of the Bangchak fuel station, blending 280.9 kW of commercial terrace and canopy solar photovoltaics (PV), 913 kWh of lithium-ion, nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide (NMC) and 92 kWh of lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) battery power storage capacity. According to Leonics, who developed and installed the system, it will also produce, store and disburse excess energy to community shopping centre tenants on 24x7x365 basis.
