ChromaWay and EU Forge Path for Sustainable Blockchain Solutions

ChromaWay has renewed its partnership with the European Union to develop sustainable blockchain solutions through its RBN Eco brand. The collaboration aims to revolutionize public sector goods by leveraging next-generation decentralized applications (dApps). This partnership supports the upcoming launch of the Chromia mainnet on July 16th and focuses on projects related to Digital Product Passports and Intellectual Property Rights.

Commercialization and Industry Engagement

As ChromaWay advances towards commercialization, it has started engaging with clients in the battery and textile sectors. This engagement is driven by the upcoming 2027 Ecodesign legislation, which aims to promote sustainability and eco-friendly design practices. In July, pivotal meetings are scheduled between ChromaWay, RBN Eco, and the European Blockchain Association to further the mission of integrating blockchain technology into sustainable industries.

ChromaWay’s efforts are backed by industry giants such as Binance, Animoca, and NGC. In 2019, Chromia, a platform developed by ChromaWay, raised $12 million through private sales and a public Initial Exchange Offering (IEO). The platform offers versatile solutions across various use cases, including DePIN, Real World Assets (RWA), NFTs, and gaming. Chromia’s unique relational blockchain architecture, which records structured data in linked relational tables, distinguishes it from traditional blockchain technologies.

Founders and Technological Contributions

The founders of Chromia—Alex Mizrahi, Or Perelman, and Henrik Hjelte—have played significant roles in the blockchain industry since its early days. Their contributions include co-founding one of the first Bitcoin wallets and co-authoring the colored coins whitepaper with Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. These achievements highlight the expertise and innovative capabilities behind ChromaWay and Chromia.

RBN Eco’s Chromia-based Nebula Architecture aims to provide EU citizens, organizations, and businesses with a reliable, secure, and environmentally responsible blockchain solution. ChromaWay’s ongoing collaboration with the EU, particularly through the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) project, underscores the potential of relational blockchain to deliver impactful applications in both private and public sectors.

Recognition and Future Plans

Following a successful presentation at the EU PCP final review meeting in Brussels, evaluators praised ChromaWay for its decentralized applications supporting Digital Product Passports and Intellectual Property Rights. This recognition validates the efficiency and organizational capabilities of relational blockchain technology.

ChromaWay is currently in discussions with potential clients in the battery and textile industries, motivated by the forthcoming Ecodesign legislation. This legislation is expected to drive companies towards integrating Web3 technologies to modernize client interactions and encourage participation in the circular economy.

In July 2024, representatives from RBN Eco and ChromaWay will participate in an interview with the European Blockchain Association to ensure alignment with new EU initiatives. A follow-up workshop in Brussels is planned for September to outline the next steps for the fourth quarter of 2024 and into 2025.
