EtherMail is preparing to introduce Moltmail, a specialized email and wallet infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence agents. The new platform is designed to enable AI systems to generate their own email addresses directly linked to cryptocurrency wallets without requiring human approval or additional verification procedures.
Through this initiative, EtherMail aims to position itself as a central identity hub for autonomous systems by combining messaging, digital identity, and on-chain payment functionality into a unified framework. The launch reflects a broader industry shift toward tools that support autonomous workflows capable of operating with minimal human oversight.
Moltmail will allow AI agents to create and activate email accounts programmatically while simultaneously connecting them to crypto wallets. The feature arrives as the so-called agentic internet gains momentum, building on the adoption of Moltbook, which the company reports currently hosts approximately 2.8 million agents.
Historically, EtherMail’s services were used primarily by individuals, including prominent cryptocurrency executives and key opinion leaders. However, AI agents are increasingly emerging as a new interaction layer within Web3 ecosystems, gradually assuming operational roles that extend and reshape existing decentralized infrastructure.
Addressing Security and Compliance Gaps
As more financial, travel, and operational workflows transition toward automation, the need for independent digital identities for AI systems has become more pressing. EtherMail maintains that while Web3 ecosystems already offer wallet-based identity components, there remains a gap in how AI agents interact with traditional internet services.
Most AI agents currently lack the ability to independently send emails, register for online services, or combine communication functions with asset management. In many cases, they rely on human-provided inboxes, which can introduce compliance and security vulnerabilities.
The company argues that conventional email providers typically restrict non-human usage through CAPTCHA systems, phone-based verification, bot-detection technologies, and strict service agreements. These barriers make it difficult for autonomous systems to operate freely across mainstream online platforms.
EtherMail also emphasizes the risks associated with granting AI agents access to personal email accounts. According to Gerald Heydenreich, Founder and CEO of EtherMail, many users instinctively consider sharing their primary email accounts with AI tools. However, he cautioned that email accounts function as central gateways to nearly all online services, including banking, healthcare portals, password recovery systems, and two-factor authentication processes. He compared granting such access to giving unrestricted control over critical personal assets and accounts.
To mitigate these risks, EtherMail is developing agent-native email identities that operate independently from human inboxes. This separation is intended to reduce exposure to security breaches and limit regulatory liability when deploying AI systems in production environments.

Each Moltmail address will be paired with an embedded cryptocurrency wallet, drawing from established Web3 identity models. This design allows AI agents to hold digital assets, execute payments, and participate directly in decentralized economies. At the same time, the company acknowledges that secure private key management remains a complex issue and plans to further examine this aspect as the product rolls out.
The Moltmail framework will also include agent-to-human email forwarding for scenarios requiring human verification, such as travel bookings or final payment confirmations. While human inboxes remain separate, agents will be able to handle operational tasks autonomously before escalating specific actions for approval.
EtherMail has made its documentation publicly available as open-source resources, enabling developers to integrate email and wallet functionality into AI agents rapidly. Nevertheless, the company advises teams to carefully design identity structures and permission systems before automating financial processes.
By presenting itself as a neutral infrastructure provider, EtherMail is targeting startups and established platforms seeking Web3 email wallet integration without constructing the entire technology stack internally. The company believes this model could foster innovation in agent-driven commerce, automated customer service, and blockchain-based loyalty programs.
Within this ecosystem, AI agents will also be able to earn and spend EMT tokens, potentially expanding the token’s utility.
