Singapore consumers purchasing premium Musang King durians will soon be able to verify the authenticity and origin of every fruit through a new technology-driven traceability platform developed by Synagie. The company has introduced AGONG Durian, an artificial intelligence-powered and blockchain-enabled premium durian brand designed to provide customers with greater confidence by allowing each fruit to be traced directly to the orchard where it was grown.
The initiative combines premium Malaysian Musang King durians with artificial intelligence and blockchain technology to create a transparent, verifiable supply chain that enables customers to confirm the origin and authenticity of every fruit before consumption.
The traceability system centers on a unique QR code assigned to each AGONG Durian. After scanning the code, customers can access a digital record documenting the fruit’s journey throughout the supply chain, from the orchard in Malaysia to the consumer’s doorstep in Singapore. The digital record is intended to provide buyers with detailed information about where the durian originated and how it moved through the distribution network before delivery.
In addition to the QR-based tracking system, every durian is assigned a verified digital identity. This digital credential is designed to provide an additional level of assurance by confirming that each fruit originates from the declared source and meets the brand’s authenticity standards.
The premium Musang King durians marketed under the AGONG brand are sourced from Du-Mas heritage farms in Malaysia, which are recognized for producing durians with rich, creamy flesh that has become highly sought after among consumers in the region.
Addressing authenticity concerns in premium fruit sales
According to Synagie Group Asia and Europe Chief Operating Officer Quek Wei Ling, the initiative was developed in response to a common challenge faced by buyers of premium Musang King durians. She indicated that consumers often have to depend largely on a seller’s assurances when purchasing premium fruit and may only discover the actual quality or variety after the durian has been opened. She further explained that even after the fruit is cut, confirming its true place of origin can remain difficult.
By providing every durian with a permanent and traceable digital history, the platform seeks to allow consumers to verify authenticity before purchase instead of relying solely on visual appearance, taste, or seller claims.
Beginning in July 2026, AGONG Durian will be available to customers in Singapore through Shopee, TikTok Shop, and the company’s dedicated AGONG.shop online platform. Synagie also plans to extend the brand’s reach into China through leading instant-commerce platforms as part of its international expansion strategy.
The company indicated that the broader rollout is intended to increase access to premium Malaysian Musang King durians while preserving strict standards for authenticity and supply chain transparency. By maintaining digital verification across multiple markets, the company aims to ensure that customers receive genuine products regardless of where they make their purchases.
Beyond premium fruit sales, the AGONG Durian initiative demonstrates how blockchain and artificial intelligence can improve transparency in traditional agricultural products by enabling end-to-end verification throughout the supply chain.
The launch reflects a growing application of digital technologies in the food industry, where blockchain-based traceability and AI-powered data management are increasingly being used to improve consumer trust, strengthen product verification, and enhance supply chain visibility. Through AGONG Durian, Synagie aims to demonstrate that technologies commonly associated with digital industries can also deliver practical benefits for everyday food purchases by offering consumers greater confidence in the products they buy.
