Keeta and LayerZero Bring Tokenized Bank Deposits to Public Blockchains

Partnership Seeks to Expand Cross-Chain Settlement for Financial Institutions

LayerZero

Keeta and LayerZero have partnered to introduce an infrastructure that combines blockchain interoperability with regulated payment systems, enabling tokenized commercial bank deposits to move seamlessly across the Keeta Network, Ethereum, Solana, and Base. The initiative is designed to provide financial institutions with a settlement framework that supports both fiat currencies and public blockchain networks while allowing transactions to be completed within seconds.

The collaboration reflects a broader shift in financial markets, where traditional commercial bank deposits are being adapted for use on public blockchain infrastructure. Instead of restricting liquidity within closed banking ecosystems, the model is intended to allow institutions to transact on their preferred blockchain while maintaining access to liquidity across multiple networks. This approach could broaden access to public blockchain capital markets by supporting deposit-backed financial instruments rather than relying on reserve-backed stablecoin structures.

The partnership will introduce Keeta Stablecoins using LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard, enabling regulated financial institutions to issue and transfer tokenized commercial bank deposits across multiple blockchain networks while retaining complete control over their smart contracts.

Multi-Chain Design With Institutional Oversight

According to the companies, the tokenized deposits will be backed by commercial bank funds held through Bivo, a U.S.-licensed financial technology platform that is connected to domestic payment rails and partner banking institutions. By combining regulated banking infrastructure with blockchain technology, the system is intended to deliver cross-chain mobility without requiring issuers to relinquish operational authority over their digital assets.

The architecture seeks to balance the accessibility of public blockchain networks with the governance requirements of regulated financial institutions. Keeta also plans to integrate LayerZero directly into its own network as a foundational interoperability component, strengthening communication between Keeta’s native settlement infrastructure and external blockchain ecosystems.

Multi-Currency Expansion Planned

The companies expect to launch the products later this month, initially supporting the U.S. dollar alongside eight additional currencies, including the euro, Japanese yen, Chinese renminbi, British pound, Canadian dollar, Mexican peso, UAE dirham, and Hong Kong dollar.

Unlike conventional stablecoins that typically represent a single fiat currency through reserve-backed mechanisms, these digital assets are structured as tokenized commercial bank deposits intended for institutional financial activity. The multi-currency framework is expected to be available across several blockchain networks from launch rather than relying on separate bridging solutions after issuance.

The planned platform is designed to simplify treasury management, cross-border payments, and institutional settlement by enabling multiple fiat-denominated tokenized deposits to operate natively across interconnected public blockchains.

Alternative to Closed Banking Networks

The announcement comes as financial institutions continue to explore tokenized deposits and digital settlement infrastructure. Several major U.S. banks have previously outlined plans for shared tokenized deposit networks that would operate exclusively among participating institutions.

Keeta and LayerZero are positioning their solution as an alternative that leverages open public blockchains while maintaining regulatory compliance through Keeta’s payment infrastructure and LayerZero’s interoperability network, which connects more than 170 blockchain ecosystems.

The initiative aims to determine whether regulated commercial bank money can remain under institutional governance while achieving broad portability across public blockchain networks. If the model gains meaningful commercial adoption, it could reshape how financial institutions conduct settlement by allowing tokenized bank deposits to move across multiple blockchain ecosystems instead of remaining confined to proprietary banking platforms.

If adopted at scale, the framework could establish public blockchain networks as settlement infrastructure for regulated commercial bank deposits, expanding their role beyond digital asset trading into mainstream institutional finance.
