Injective Tokenizes $1 Billion in Residential Mortgages

Injective is gaining prominence in the asset tokenization sector after Pineapple Financial moved more than $1 billion in residential mortgage records onto the blockchain, marking a significant expansion of blockchain use in traditional financial markets.

The development highlights the growing use of blockchain networks to represent and manage real-world financial assets. Pineapple Financial, a mortgage lender, has been using Injective since December 2025 to place mortgage records on-chain while preserving the terms and structure of the underlying loans.

The initiative could strengthen Injective’s position among blockchain platforms targeting institutional financial applications and potentially encourage wider adoption of tokenized real estate assets by lenders and investors.

Pineapple Moves 2,079 Mortgage Files Onchain

Pineapple Financial has migrated 2,079 residential mortgage files to the Injective blockchain, with the records representing more than $1 billion in mortgage assets. The transferred files account for roughly 7% of the company’s overall mortgage portfolio, which is valued at more than $10 billion.

The blockchain records do not replace or modify the original mortgage agreements. Instead, the initiative provides an additional digital layer for recording and verifying relevant mortgage information.

By putting more than $1 billion in residential mortgage records on Injective, Pineapple Financial is demonstrating how blockchain infrastructure can be applied to large-scale traditional financial assets without changing the underlying loan agreements.

The use of blockchain-based records could improve the ability of lenders and other authorized participants to verify financial data. It may also provide additional information for risk assessment and modeling, potentially improving the efficiency of processes surrounding mortgage portfolios.

The development represents a notable use case for real-world asset tokenization because residential mortgages are traditionally managed through established financial and administrative systems rather than public blockchain networks.

Mortgage Data Marketplace Planned

Pineapple Financial intends to expand its blockchain initiative beyond the initial migration of mortgage records. The company plans to develop a Mortgage Data Marketplace that could create new ways for participants to access and utilize mortgage-related information.

The company is also planning mortgage-backed yield products for investors. If implemented, those products could connect blockchain-based representations of mortgage assets with investment opportunities, potentially creating a new channel for investors seeking exposure to real estate-related financial instruments.

Such developments could increase the practical value of the mortgage records already placed on-chain. Rather than serving only as digitally recorded information, the data could eventually become part of a broader financial ecosystem involving analysis, investment, and asset-backed products.

Injective Targets Institutional Asset Tokenization

Injective’s role in the project reflects the blockchain’s broader focus on financial applications and asset tokenization. Tokenization involves representing ownership, rights, or financial information associated with real-world assets through blockchain-based digital records.

The mortgage initiative could help demonstrate the potential benefits of this model to traditional financial companies. Faster data verification, improved transparency, and automated access to financial information are among the potential advantages for lenders, investors, and other market participants.

For Injective, successful expansion of the project could provide evidence that its infrastructure can support large-scale financial records and institutional use cases. The mortgage migration also gives traditional lenders a practical example of how blockchain technology can complement existing financial infrastructure while retaining the legal structure of conventional assets.

Today, over $1 Billion in real estate mortgages have been tokenized on Injective.

Broader Implications for Real Estate Finance

Real estate represents one of the largest asset classes in global financial markets, making mortgage tokenization a potentially significant application of blockchain technology. However, adoption depends on regulatory requirements, data privacy, investor protections, and the ability to connect blockchain records with established financial systems.

Pineapple’s initiative remains relatively early, with the migrated files representing only a portion of its overall portfolio. The planned marketplace and mortgage-backed products could determine whether the project develops into a broader financial platform.

As per the report, the initiative demonstrates that blockchain-based asset representation is moving beyond experimental applications and into larger traditional financial datasets. If Pineapple successfully expands its mortgage tokenization strategy, the project could provide a blueprint for other lenders seeking to use blockchain for mortgage data management, investment products, and real-world asset markets.

The next phase will likely depend on how quickly Pineapple can expand the number of mortgage records onchain and translate the underlying data into products that offer measurable benefits to lenders and investors. For Injective, the project could become an important reference point as competition increases among blockchain networks seeking institutional adoption in the rapidly developing tokenized asset market.
