Oracle Integrates Swift Blockchain Ledger for Tokenized Deposits

Oracle is integrating its financial technology with Swift’s blockchain ledger in an initiative designed to help banks connect tokenized deposit systems across institutions and incorporate blockchain-based payments into existing financial workflows.

The integration is intended to allow financial institutions to retain their own tokenized deposit infrastructure while supporting traditional payments and digital-asset transactions through a more unified operating model. The development comes as banks and payment providers explore blockchain technology for faster settlement, programmable transactions, and cross-border financial activity.

Oracle’s integration with Swift’s blockchain ledger is designed to connect banks’ existing tokenized deposit infrastructure with cross-bank payment flows while allowing institutions to retain control over their own systems.

Swift Ledger to Coordinate Cross-Bank Transactions

Under the proposed model, Swift’s ledger will coordinate payment activity between participating financial institutions. Banks will be able to use tokenized deposits maintained on their own bank-centric ledgers for interbank transactions while connecting those assets to broader payment processes.

The approach is designed to support real-time cross-border payments as well as programmable payment services and digital-asset transactions. Oracle said the system is intended to help financial institutions maintain existing requirements around security, governance and regulatory oversight while adopting blockchain-based payment capabilities.

Tokenized deposits represent digital versions of bank deposits that can be transferred or settled using blockchain infrastructure. Unlike privately issued cryptocurrencies, they are generally designed to remain connected to deposits held within regulated banking systems.

The integration therefore targets an area of growing interest among financial institutions: using blockchain technology without requiring banks to abandon established payment infrastructure or operational controls.

Oracle Technology Provides Blockchain Infrastructure

Oracle Blockchain Platform and Oracle Digital Assets Data Nexus will provide a pre-integrated technology foundation for institutions connecting to Swift’s ledger.

The infrastructure is designed to support Swift commitment contracts and event orchestration while providing EVM-based blockchain capabilities. It also includes functionality for custodial wallets, transaction signing, system integrations, and smart contracts that can support tokenized deposit operations.

This architecture could allow banks to coordinate blockchain transactions with their existing financial systems rather than operating blockchain activity as a separate process. The ability to combine blockchain infrastructure, transaction management, and institutional controls is intended to reduce operational complexity for financial institutions exploring tokenized assets.

Oracle’s blockchain technology and digital-asset infrastructure will provide the foundation for transaction signing, wallet functions, smart-contract operations and event coordination connected to Swift’s ledger.

Oracle Banking Payments Links Blockchain With ISO 20022

Oracle Banking Payments will connect the blockchain-based payment processes with existing ISO 20022 payment processing. ISO 20022 is a global messaging standard increasingly used by financial institutions to exchange structured payment information.

Oracle said its technology can coordinate payment and blockchain events throughout the lifecycle of transactions processed through the Swift ledger. Durable workflows and transaction coordination are intended to help banks maintain consistent processing while improving operational resilience.

The integration could be particularly relevant to institutions seeking to combine conventional payment rails with tokenized assets. Instead of creating entirely separate workflows for blockchain transactions, banks could use existing payment technology alongside blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.

For cross-border payments, the model could support continuous processing and greater automation while maintaining established institutional controls. Programmable payments could also allow certain transaction conditions or business rules to be executed through automated workflows.

Integration Builds on Swift Collaboration

The initiative expands Oracle’s existing work with Swift on payment modernization. Earlier in the year, Oracle said its payments application had received Swift Compatible Application certification, extending the relationship between the two organizations.

The latest integration indicates a broader focus on connecting established financial infrastructure with blockchain-based systems. Swift’s ledger is being positioned as a coordination layer for participating financial institutions, while Oracle is supplying technology to connect tokenized deposits and payment operations.

The integration is intended to give banks a way to incorporate tokenized deposits and digital-asset transactions into existing payment operations without replacing their established banking infrastructure.

As per reports, the project remains focused on connecting institutional blockchain systems with cross-border payment processes. Its broader impact will depend on participation by banks, regulatory developments, and the extent to which tokenized deposits and blockchain-based payment services move into large-scale production use.
