ANDRA Launches Platform for Tokenized ETFs on Canton

andra - adaptable network designed for regulated assets

ANDRA, or Adaptable Network Designed for Regulated Assets, has launched an institutional platform aimed at helping exchange-traded fund issuers bring tokenized funds onto blockchain networks without replacing the infrastructure already used to operate their funds.

Built on the Canton Network, the platform is designed to add an on-chain layer to existing ETF structures. It supports digital wallets, programmable transfers, and blockchain-based ownership while maintaining a connection with official records held by regulated transfer agents.

ANDRA’s platform is designed to let ETF issuers tokenize funds on-chain while keeping existing transfer-agent infrastructure intact, creating a link between blockchain ownership and regulated fund records.

Platform Connects Tokenized Funds With Existing Infrastructure

The launch follows ANDRA’s registration as a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission transfer agent on Sept. 4, according to the report. That status is central to the company’s approach because the platform is intended to synchronize blockchain activity with official ownership records maintained within the regulated financial system.

Rather than requiring asset managers to create entirely new fund structures, ANDRA is seeking to integrate tokenization into existing ETF operations. The approach could allow issuers to maintain established relationships with transfer agents, authorized participants, market makers and other service providers while introducing blockchain-based capabilities.

The platform is designed to support settlement, compliance, and digital distribution, areas that could become increasingly important as financial institutions explore blockchain-based infrastructure for traditional assets.

For ETF issuers, tokenization could provide faster settlement and programmable transfers while creating additional channels through which investors can access fund interests. Digital wallets could also provide investors and institutions with a more direct mechanism for holding and transferring tokenized assets.

Canton Provides Institutional Blockchain Infrastructure

ANDRA has built the platform on the Canton Network, a blockchain infrastructure focused on institutional financial applications. The network is designed to provide configurable privacy, allowing financial institutions to conduct blockchain-based transactions while controlling how sensitive information is shared among participants.

The report indicates that ANDRA’s architecture is intended to support permissioned workflows and privacy-preserving auditability. This could be important for ETF issuers and other regulated financial institutions that need to maintain transparency for authorized parties while limiting exposure of confidential information.

The integration also seeks to maintain interoperability with existing financial-market infrastructure. That approach could reduce the operational disruption associated with introducing blockchain technology into established financial products.

By connecting on-chain ownership and transfers with official transfer-agent records, ANDRA is attempting to address one of the key operational challenges facing tokenized securities: maintaining regulatory records while enabling blockchain-based transactions.

Industry Group Targets Tokenized ETF Challenges

ANDRA has also established an industry working group focused on operational issues surrounding tokenized ETFs. The group is intended to address challenges involving settlement, compliance, and coordination among the different participants involved in ETF markets.

Those participants include issuers, authorized participants, and market makers, whose existing roles remain important under ANDRA’s model. Coordinating these parties could be critical as tokenized funds move from experimental deployments toward broader institutional use.

Tokenized ETFs have attracted interest because they could combine the established structure of exchange-traded funds with blockchain capabilities. Instead of replacing traditional market infrastructure, tokenization can potentially add new functionality for ownership, settlement, and distribution.

The approach could also allow financial institutions to experiment with blockchain technology while preserving processes that regulators and market participants already understand.

Tokenized ETFs Move Toward Institutional Infrastructure

The development comes as asset managers and financial institutions increasingly examine the potential of tokenizing traditional financial assets. The focus is gradually shifting from isolated blockchain pilots toward infrastructure capable of supporting regulated products at institutional scale.

For investors, tokenized ETFs could eventually offer more flexible settlement and digital ownership options. For issuers, the technology could create new distribution channels while retaining existing operational arrangements.

ANDRA’s launch represents another step in the effort to move tokenized ETFs from limited pilot programs toward institutional market infrastructure, with blockchain capabilities integrated into established fund operations.

The long-term significance will depend on adoption by ETF issuers, market participants, and regulators. If tokenization gains broader institutional acceptance, blockchain networks could become an additional settlement and distribution layer for ETFs and other regulated investment products.

ANDRA’s model suggests that the transition may not require financial institutions to abandon existing infrastructure. Instead, blockchain technology could increasingly operate alongside established systems, providing programmable transactions, digital ownership, and faster settlement while preserving regulated records and established market roles.
