ZKsync Launches Prividium Commander for Institutional Blockchain Controls

Matter Labs expands enterprise access to permission management across public blockchains and private networks.

Matter Labs, the developer behind ZKsync, introduced Prividium Commander on Oct. 21, 2026, extending its institutional digital-asset software to applications running on supported public blockchains and existing private networks, including Hyperledger Besu.

The new product allows institutions to implement application-level permissions and administrative controls without first migrating to a blockchain built specifically for Prividium. The launch expands Matter Labs’ approach to institutional adoption by separating its permission management tools from the underlying blockchain infrastructure.

Chief Executive Alex Gluchowski explained in the launch announcement that Prividium had previously been designed for institutions seeking to adopt a new blockchain, while Commander extends its capabilities to organizations that want to retain their existing infrastructure.

Dashboard-Based Permissions and Identity Management

Commander connects employee accounts to institutional identity systems, including Okta, enabling organizations to manage access through a centralized dashboard. Authorized teams can modify permissions without manually editing configuration files, according to Matter Labs.

The software also records decisions made on incoming requests, including rejected requests, providing institutions with a record of access-control activity. In addition, Commander can notify connected payment applications when a transfer has been completed.

These features are intended to simplify administrative processes for institutions operating digital-asset applications across established technology environments. Centralized permission management could help organizations coordinate employee access and application workflows without requiring changes to their underlying blockchain infrastructure.

However, Commander does not replace the security and transaction controls maintained by custody providers. Those providers continue to manage their own signing processes and transaction authorization mechanisms.

The product introduces a centralized administrative layer for application requests while allowing institutions to retain their existing blockchain execution, consensus, and settlement systems.

Existing Blockchain Rules Remain in Effect

Commander governs requests that pass through its software rather than changing the rules enforced by the underlying blockchain. Matter Labs’ product documentation states that Hyperledger Besu retains its existing execution, consensus, and settlement model when used with the system.

Moving a digital asset pilot into production can require a second software project around the financial service itself.

Institutions end up running a software project around every financial product.

Requests that bypass Commander remain outside its permission controls. Similarly, assigning permissions to participants does not create separate private ledgers or independently isolate transaction records on the underlying network.

The distinction is important for institutions evaluating the product’s security and operational scope. Commander provides an additional access-management mechanism, but it does not automatically enforce its policies across every transaction or application connected to a blockchain.

Institution’s users, systems and rules. One operating platform.

Institutions can sync accounts from existing user management systems. Set permissions in a dashboard, without editing configuration files.

Every request is checked before it executes. Every refusal is recorded and can be shown to risk teams, auditors or regulators.

Matter Labs has invited prospective customers to schedule demonstrations and discuss their operational requirements. However, the company has not specified a general-availability date, Commander-specific pricing or licensing terms in the launch materials. The announcement also did not identify institutional customers or provide a complete list of supported public blockchains.

Commercial Tools Extend Open-Source Prividium Core

The launch follows Matter Labs’ Sept. 8 release of Prividium Core under the Apache 2.0 open-source license. Core includes a permissioning engine that authenticates callers, applies role-based access controls, and forwards approved requests to a ZKsync sequencer, according to its software repository.

The open-source release does not include all the components available through Matter Labs’ commercial offering. These exclusions include administrative and user-facing web applications, deployment and operations tools, and managed services.

Matter Labs continues to classify enterprise tooling, integrations, and managed services as commercial offerings in its product documentation. Commander therefore extends the company’s institutional software beyond the open-source permissioning engine.

Potential Migration Path to Prividium Ledger

Prividium Ledger is Matter Labs’ separate blockchain designed for private financial applications. It uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify execution while protecting confidential records from disclosure.

According to the company, institutions can begin using Commander with existing infrastructure and later migrate to Prividium Ledger while retaining Commander and their integrations. This approach offers organizations a potential path toward dedicated blockchain infrastructure without requiring an immediate transition.

The launch positions Commander as an entry point for institutions seeking greater control over application access and operational workflows. Its practical adoption will depend on supported integrations, deployment requirements, commercial terms, and how effectively the software fits institutions’ existing security architectures.
