Mirae Asset and Google Expand Institutional Use of Solana

Mirae Asset Securities and Google are advancing separate initiatives involving Solana, highlighting the blockchain’s growing role in institutional finance, from tokenized securities issuance to digital asset security.

Mirae Asset Securities’ Hong Kong unit has issued six-month U.S. dollar floating-rate notes using its proprietary tokenization infrastructure on Solana. Separately, Google has introduced Google Multi-Party Compute, an institutional custody and transaction-signing system that is undergoing private testing with major financial institutions. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is using the technology to secure its own digital assets on Solana and Ethereum.

The developments highlight two distinct institutional applications of Solana: the issuance of tokenized financial instruments and the security of digital assets through distributed cryptographic controls.

Mirae Asset Issues Tokenized Dollar Notes on Solana

Mirae Asset Securities’ Hong Kong subsidiary completed the issuance of six-month U.S. dollar-denominated floating-rate notes under its $3 billion guaranteed structured note program. The transaction marks the company’s first overseas issuance using its proprietary tokenization infrastructure.

The notes were privately placed with eligible professional investors, while Singapore-regulated digital market infrastructure provider Marketnode acted as the authorized distributor. Mirae Asset managed token issuance, payments, and the notes’ lifecycle through its own digital infrastructure.

The $3 billion figure represents the overall structured note program, not the amount raised in this individual transaction. The issuance value was not specified in the original announcement.

Tokenization represents financial instruments as digital tokens on a blockchain, allowing institutions to use digital infrastructure to record ownership and manage transactions. For financial firms, the approach could create opportunities to improve operational efficiency and expand the distribution of traditional investment products.

Mirae Asset’s deployment also demonstrates how established financial institutions are exploring public blockchain networks for regulated financial activities rather than limiting their digital asset strategies to cryptocurrency trading.

Google Introduces Institutional Digital Asset Security

Google’s Google Multi-Party Compute system takes a different approach to institutional blockchain infrastructure. The service is designed to help financial institutions protect and transfer cryptocurrencies and tokenized assets by distributing transaction-signing authority across separate computing environments.

Multi-party computation, or MPC, divides control of cryptographic signing keys among multiple participants or systems. Instead of relying on a single location holding the complete private key, the system enables authorized parties to cooperate in approving transactions.

This architecture is intended to reduce the risks associated with a single compromised device or exposed key. Institutions can also apply transaction policies and approval requirements to strengthen operational controls.

The service remains in private preview, with several major financial institutions testing the technology. Google has targeted commercial availability for early 2027, although it has not disclosed pricing or identified the participating institutions.

Alphabet’s use of the system to secure its own digital assets on Solana and Ethereum provides a practical example of the technology being applied within its parent company’s operations. The specific assets and amounts involved have not been disclosed.

Solana’s Institutional Role Extends Beyond Trading

The two developments illustrate how blockchain adoption is expanding into different parts of the financial services industry. Mirae Asset is using Solana to support the issuance and management of tokenized debt instruments, while Alphabet is using Google’s security technology to protect digital assets across blockchain networks.

These applications address different requirements. Tokenization focuses on representing and administering financial instruments digitally, whereas MPC focuses on controlling access to assets and authorizing transactions securely.

Together, the initiatives underscore the growing interest in blockchain infrastructure that can support institutional financial products while addressing security and operational requirements.

Further adoption will depend on regulatory compliance, investor demand, technical reliability, and the ability to integrate blockchain systems with existing financial operations. Mirae Asset’s transaction and Google’s planned commercial rollout represent separate developments, but both demonstrate how established financial and technology companies are building infrastructure for the next phase of digital asset adoption.
