BNB Chain Tests 88% TPS Boost With BEP-675 Upgrade

New Proposal Targets Faster BSC Processing Without Higher Gas Limits

BNB Chain

BNB Chain has reported strong performance results from BEP-675, a proposed upgrade being tested on the Binance Smart Chain testnet as part of its second-half 2026 scaling roadmap. The proposal increased transaction throughput by 88% during testing, reaching 2,324 transactions per second compared with a baseline of 1,237 TPS.

The improvement was achieved without increasing the network’s 100 million gas limit or changing its 450-millisecond block interval. The results suggest that BNB Chain can extract additional capacity from its existing block-production framework by reducing unnecessary transaction processing.

BEP-675 increased testnet throughput to 2,324 TPS by eliminating duplicate transaction execution between block builders and validators, while keeping the existing gas limit and block interval unchanged.

Removing Duplicate Block Execution

Under the current process, block builders execute transactions before submitting their bids to validators. Validators then execute those transactions again before finalizing the block. BEP-675 changes this process by allowing builders to submit blocks that have already been fully executed.

According to the test results, this change reduced validator execution time from about 125 milliseconds to 15 milliseconds. The additional time gives builders more room to fill blocks closer to their available gas capacity, improving resource utilization without directly changing finality conditions.

The test was conducted on QANet, a cross-region testnet designed to approximate mainnet operating conditions. Average gas consumption increased to 84.15 million per block from 46.35 million, while median usage rose from 29.49 million to 98.99 million.

Despite the increased block utilization, the test reportedly maintained stable execution performance and finality latency. The change also addresses a previous limitation in which as many as 25% of blocks could be submitted partially filled because builders lacked sufficient time to maximize available block capacity.

By reducing the duplicated execution workload, BEP-675 gives block builders additional processing time to use available gas capacity more efficiently, potentially increasing BSC throughput without requiring a larger gas limit.

Mainnet Testing Remains the Next Challenge

BNB Chain has indicated that the testnet results still require validation under mainnet conditions. One important test will involve scenarios where several competing bids are submitted during the same block slot, which could place additional pressure on the revised execution model.

BEP-675 forms part of BNB Chain’s broader 2026 strategy to improve capacity for high-volume applications, including decentralized finance, gaming and payment services. The network had already reduced its block interval to 450 milliseconds following the January 2026 Fermi hard fork and has pursued broader improvements aimed at substantially increasing throughput.

The BSC Mainnet Pasteur hard fork, scheduled for Aug. 25, is expected to include BEP-675 alongside other changes, including Block-Level Access Lists. Builders adopting the new proposal will need to operate full nodes rather than fast nodes. Existing bid formats will continue to function, although legacy bids could face reduced block-packing time.

BNB Chain Adds Institutional Security Certifications

Alongside its technical scaling efforts, BNB Chain has received ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27701 certifications from the British Standards Institution. The certifications, announced Aug. 7, are intended to strengthen the network’s credentials among banks, asset managers, governments and other institutions evaluating blockchain infrastructure.

ISO/IEC 27001 focuses on information security management, including risk identification, access controls and incident management. ISO/IEC 27701 extends privacy management requirements to the handling of personally identifiable information, covering areas such as collection, processing and storage.

Institutional trust starts with independently verified standards.

BSI’s assessment covered BNB Chain infrastructure and operational processes, including systems used for smart-contract deployment and execution, key management and blockchain services. Under ISO/IEC 27701, BNB Chain was certified as a personally identifiable information controller, placing responsibility on the network organization for decisions concerning personal-data handling.

The certifications apply at the blockchain infrastructure level, giving institutional users third-party validation of BNB Chain’s security and privacy management rather than limiting compliance assurances to individual applications or service providers.

Scaling and Compliance Move in Parallel

The certifications come as BNB Chain continues to pursue higher network performance. The network reported benchmark results of up to 5,200 TPS during the first half of 2026 while maintaining a 450-millisecond block interval.

With the Pasteur hard fork approaching, the combination of throughput improvements and infrastructure-level security certification reflects a dual strategy focused on performance and institutional readiness. Further mainnet testing of BEP-675 will determine whether the gains observed on QANet can be sustained under real-world conditions.

If the upgrade performs as expected, BNB Chain could strengthen its position among networks seeking to support high-volume DeFi, tokenized assets, payments, and other Web3 applications while maintaining operational stability and institutional-grade security controls.
