DIMOCO Adds Stablecoin Settlement for Merchants

Blockchain-based settlement expands merchant payment options

Austrian-licensed payment institution DIMOCO has introduced stablecoin settlement, allowing merchants to receive funds directly into digital wallets rather than relying solely on conventional banking settlement cycles.

The service was launched through a partnership with Fipto, a regulated crypto-asset service provider that supplies the stablecoin infrastructure supporting the offering. The arrangement adds blockchain-based settlement to DIMOCO’s existing payment services and is designed to give merchants greater flexibility in managing funds across markets.

DIMOCO’s new settlement option allows merchants to receive funds in euro- and U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins directly into digital wallets, providing an alternative to traditional banking settlement processes.

The service is intended to operate independently of the payment method used by customers. Consumers can continue paying through their existing options, including cards and other supported payment methods, and can transact in their local currency. The merchant’s settlement currency and infrastructure can instead be handled separately through the stablecoin system.

This structure means the introduction of blockchain settlement does not require changes to the customer checkout experience. Merchants can therefore adopt digital asset-based settlement while maintaining the payment processes already used by their customers.

Settlement beyond traditional banking hours

DIMOCO’s use of blockchain infrastructure is aimed at addressing some of the limitations associated with conventional banking settlement cycles. Traditional transfers can depend on banking hours, processing windows and cross-border settlement arrangements, while blockchain networks can operate continuously.

Under the new system, merchants can receive settlement funds in EUR or USD stablecoins designed to maintain a relatively stable value against their respective fiat currencies. The funds can be transferred to a digital wallet and managed independently of traditional bank settlement schedules.

The blockchain-based system is designed to support near-instant and 24/7 settlement, potentially allowing merchants to access and manage funds outside conventional banking hours and across borders.

The model could be particularly relevant to businesses operating across multiple markets, where differences in banking schedules and settlement infrastructure can affect the timing of fund availability. By separating payment acceptance from merchant settlement, DIMOCO is giving businesses another way to manage when and how they receive funds.

Fipto supplies stablecoin infrastructure

Fipto is providing the infrastructure that enables DIMOCO to incorporate stablecoin settlement into its payment offering. The company focuses on business payments and treasury operations, including services for sending, receiving, and managing funds through stablecoins.

Fipto’s infrastructure can be accessed through an application programming interface, web platform, or Treasury Management System. The company’s technology is intended to support businesses that require continuous access to digital settlement and treasury functions.

The partnership also builds on Fipto’s regulatory position in Europe. The company holds a Payment Institution license from France’s ACPR and a Markets in Crypto-Assets, or MiCA, crypto-asset service provider license from France’s AMF.

The regulatory framework is relevant as financial institutions and payment companies increasingly examine stablecoins for cross-border transfers and corporate treasury operations. By working with a regulated infrastructure provider, DIMOCO is incorporating stablecoin settlement into an existing payments environment rather than creating an independent cryptocurrency payment channel.

Separating customer payments from merchant settlement

The arrangement creates a distinction between how customers pay and how merchants ultimately receive their funds. A customer may pay in a local currency through a familiar payment method, while the merchant can receive the corresponding settlement in an EUR or USD stablecoin.

That separation could allow businesses to explore digital settlement without requiring customers to hold cryptocurrency or alter their normal checkout behavior.

The partnership gives merchants an additional settlement route that combines DIMOCO’s established payment infrastructure with Fipto’s regulated stablecoin capabilities, potentially expanding access to faster and continuously available cross-border fund management.

The launch reflects the broader movement toward integrating stablecoins into business payment and treasury infrastructure. Rather than replacing conventional payment methods, the DIMOCO-Fipto model uses digital assets primarily at the settlement stage, where faster availability and continuous blockchain-based processing may offer operational advantages to merchants.
