Ethena Pay, a mobile financial application built exclusively on Avalanche, has launched with the aim of bringing digital-dollar payments and blockchain-based financial services into everyday transactions.
The application is designed to combine familiar banking functions with programmable money, allowing users to hold, transfer, and spend USDe, the digital dollar issued by Ethena. The service is intended to keep blockchain technology largely out of sight for consumers while using Avalanche infrastructure to handle transactions and settlements in the background.
Ethena Pay enables users to manage USDe balances, transfer funds and make purchases across Visa’s network of more than 130 million merchants without requiring them to directly interact with blockchain infrastructure.
Ethena said its minting and redemption systems have already processed more than $30 billion, while USDe has been integrated across more than 100 platforms. The company is using that existing ecosystem as the foundation for a consumer-focused financial application.
Ethena founder Guy Young said Avalanche’s early emphasis on real-world assets and tokenized assets made its ecosystem particularly suitable for the project. He indicated that Ethena Pay would tap into the liquidity and applications already available across Avalanche while shielding consumers from the complexities normally associated with decentralized finance.
Avalanche provides the underlying infrastructure
Avalanche’s transaction speed, relatively low costs and scalability are central to the design of Ethena Pay. The infrastructure allows transactions and settlements to take place without requiring users to understand wallets, networks, smart contracts or other blockchain mechanisms.
The model reflects a broader embedded-finance approach in which blockchain technology operates behind consumer-facing applications rather than being directly exposed to customers. Ethena could use this infrastructure to develop financial products that resemble conventional neobank services while relying on a blockchain network for backend operations.
Unlike fintech platforms that may depend on multiple traditional banking and payment systems, Ethena Pay seeks to combine payments, settlements and digital-dollar management through a blockchain-based infrastructure layer.
Avalanche’s architecture also provides flexibility for different applications. Its C-Chain supports Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, while its Subnet architecture can accommodate customized validator configurations and application-specific compliance requirements.
This flexibility could become relevant as financial institutions seek blockchain infrastructure capable of supporting regulated applications and specialized financial products.
Avalanche expands presence in financial markets
Avalanche has increasingly targeted financial applications involving tokenized real-world assets and institutional blockchain infrastructure. The network’s broader strategy includes support for tokenized securities and sovereign Layer 1 blockchain deployments, areas that have attracted interest from financial institutions and enterprises.
As of September 1, 2026, Avalanche’s native AVAX token was trading at about $7.32, according to the information provided in the report. The ecosystem has also attracted major financial projects, including the migration of about $3 billion in assets by Japan’s largest security-token platform.
For Ethena, the Avalanche ecosystem provides infrastructure that can support the expansion of USDe beyond cryptocurrency-focused applications. By integrating the digital dollar into routine payments, transfers and spending, Ethena Pay could increase the practical use of USDe among consumers.
The launch also gives Avalanche a direct role in consumer financial services, positioning its blockchain as backend infrastructure for digital-dollar payments and potential neobank applications.

Android and U.S. expansion planned
Ethena Pay is currently available on iOS in more than 50 countries. The company plans to expand the service to Android and introduce multi-currency accounts, while also targeting availability in the United States and European Union.
Those expansions could substantially increase the application’s potential customer base and generate additional transaction activity across Avalanche.
The launch comes as competition among digital banking and fintech platforms continues to intensify. Ethena Pay’s approach seeks to differentiate blockchain-based finance by minimizing the need for consumers to understand or directly operate blockchain technology.
If the model gains wider adoption, it could provide a pathway for digital dollars and programmable payments to become more closely integrated with everyday financial activity. It could also strengthen Avalanche’s position as infrastructure for fintech companies seeking to combine blockchain settlement with conventional consumer experiences.
