W Group is expanding the digital banking capabilities of hashbank, positioning the fully licensed bank as a link between conventional financial services and the broader blockchain ecosystem.
The latest development allows hashbank customers to transfer supported digital assets between the bank and external blockchain wallets and crypto platforms while continuing to use conventional banking services through the same mobile application.
Hashbank supports more than 150 digital assets and allows customers to receive assets from external wallets, convert supported assets into fiat, and transfer digital assets from the bank to external blockchain addresses.
The development reflects W Group’s broader strategy of combining regulated financial infrastructure with blockchain-based services. The company says its ecosystem reaches about 40 million users across 150 countries, with a focus on making digital financial services more accessible and secure.
External Wallets Become Part of Digital Banking
Hashbank’s expanded model gives customers access to external blockchain networks without requiring them to leave the bank’s digital environment for every transaction.
Customers can receive supported digital assets from outside wallets or platforms and exchange those assets for fiat through Hashbank. They can also transfer eligible digital assets from their bank accounts to external blockchain addresses.
Transactions are subject to authentication and address verification procedures, alongside anti-money-laundering controls and blockchain analytics. These measures are intended to provide additional oversight as regulated banking services interact with external digital-asset infrastructure.
W Group founder and President Volodymyr Nosov said the company’s strategy was centered on connecting traditional finance with emerging blockchain networks rather than developing services limited to either environment. He described hashbank as an example of infrastructure designed to connect currencies, financial platforms and technology systems under a regulated banking framework.
Licensed Bank Targets Regional Digital Finance
Hashbank received a full banking license from the National Bank of Georgia in 2023 and began operating in a live environment in 2024. The bank currently has about 60,000 customers across 73 countries, according to the company.
Its offering combines external wallet connectivity with direct integration with WhiteBIT, as well as everyday banking and cross-border financial services. The bank serves both individual customers and businesses.
Hashbank is described as the first fully licensed bank in the South Caucasus and Central Asia to provide this integrated external-wallet and digital-banking model through a mobile banking application.
The bank’s position within the W Group ecosystem also gives it access to broader digital-asset and financial infrastructure. WhiteBIT has about 10 million users, while the wider W Group ecosystem serves approximately 40 million users globally.
Hashbank Chief Executive Goga Chanadiri said the new service was intended to strengthen the connection between conventional banking and digital assets in Georgia and the surrounding region. The bank’s stated objective is to make cross-border movement of funds more practical while simplifying everyday financial services and increasing access to digital assets.
Expansion Into Cross-Border Infrastructure
Hashbank’s next development phase is expected to focus on international financial infrastructure. The bank is working on international payment rails, additional currencies and new cross-border payment corridors.
The expansion will also include banking-as-a-service and embedded banking capabilities. These services could allow fintech companies, digital-asset platforms and other businesses to access regulated banking infrastructure without building all of those capabilities independently.
The strategy positions hashbank as more than a consumer-focused digital bank. Its infrastructure is intended to support financial companies and technology platforms that require regulated payment, banking and digital-asset connectivity.
The broader W Group strategy is centered on creating an integrated financial ecosystem spanning banking, payments, digital assets, blockchain networks and international financial infrastructure. Hashbank forms part of that strategy by connecting regulated banking services with external blockchain networks while maintaining the governance and compliance requirements associated with a licensed financial institution.
