Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia’s largest and most renowned public university, has launched an onchain academic records initiative in partnership with Space and Time and Indomobil Group. The program aims to verify course completions for more than 60,000 students using blockchain, while also introducing a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory that will enable students to build decentralized AI applications through the Dreamspace platform.
This development is regarded as the first of its kind in Indonesia and leverages Space and Time’s zero-knowledge (ZK) data infrastructure to anchor academic achievements onchain. The initiative allows graduates to validate their credentials instantly on a global scale without relying on intermediaries. Indomobil Group is driving the effort as part of a broader national strategy to integrate blockchain into education, employment, and innovation pathways.
Blockchain-enabled academic verification
Under this collaboration, UGM will adopt Space and Time’s SXT Chain as its official credential database, ensuring that proof-of-course completions can be accessed and verified worldwide. Students completing verified coursework will be issued blockchain-based certificates that are immutable, transparent, and cryptographically verifiable. Such a system is expected to reduce credential fraud and simplify the hiring process for graduates seeking employment opportunities.
The initiative also introduces a financial layer. SXT, the native token of the Space and Time ecosystem, will serve as the medium for course access and payments, creating a decentralized and traceable flow of value within the academic environment. By embedding tokenization into its education framework, UGM is aligning with global trends that emphasize verifiable digital identities and secure data provenance.
Empowering students with AI-driven opportunities
Alongside blockchain integration, UGM is establishing an AI Lab to prepare students for careers that merge decentralized technologies with intelligent applications. Powered by Dreamspace, this lab will allow students to design and deploy AI models without extensive coding knowledge. The platform will enable students to develop custom AI tools, deploy them directly onchain for transparency, and monetize their work in real time through SXT tokens.

The lab will also incorporate training in cross-chain interoperability by teaching students how to use Hyperlane Nexus to connect external blockchains, expanding their ability to interact with the wider Web3 ecosystem. Through a combination of updated curricula, specialized instructors, and real-world projects, the program aims to transition students from theoretical learning to practical deployment, equipping them to contribute directly to Web3, DeFi, and AI-driven industries.

Institutional and corporate backing
UGM’s Vice Rector for Partnership, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, underscored the importance of equipping graduates with verifiable skills that can help them compete internationally. He highlighted how blockchain-based credentialing and AI application development are essential for preparing students for a rapidly digitalizing global economy.
Space and Time’s leadership emphasized that their role is to provide the secure infrastructure required for verifiable onchain data. Their Proof of SQL protocol ensures compliance and scalability while guaranteeing the accuracy of institutional records. The company expressed confidence that merging blockchain and AI would empower younger generations to build, own, and showcase their skills globally.
Indomobil Group, a diversified industrial conglomerate, described the initiative as a template for enterprise-level blockchain adoption. With publicly listed subsidiaries such as IMAS and IMJS, the group adds commercial credibility and regulatory weight to the project. Its leadership noted that this partnership is designed to open opportunities for Indonesian students while contributing to the nation’s competitiveness in the global digital economy.
Redefining education in Southeast Asia
Indonesia is home to one of the world’s youngest digital populations, with over 100 million people under the age of 30. As the country accelerates digital transformation, integrating blockchain and AI into education is expected to strengthen its long-term economic position.
By anchoring academic records onchain and fostering AI-powered application development, UGM is positioning itself as Southeast Asia’s first AI-ready university. This initiative not only modernizes academic infrastructure but also establishes a new educational model that prioritizes practical deployment over theoretical mastery. Graduates will emerge with verifiable records tied not only to course completions but also to real-world applications deployed on blockchain networks, marking a shift toward global readiness.
With this groundbreaking collaboration, UGM, Indomobil, and Space and Time are reshaping what institutional education can achieve in the decentralized era, setting a precedent for universities across the region.
