Project Eleven, Quantus Target Quantum-Resistant Crypto Custody

Strongpoint integration aims to prepare institutions for post-quantum security

Project Eleven and Quantus are collaborating to integrate the Quantus Network into Strongpoint, Project Eleven’s institutional custody platform designed to support blockchain assets protected by post-quantum cryptography. Quantus has joined the initiative as a development partner, with network support targeted for the first quarter of 2027.

The partnership aims to make institutional crypto custody more adaptable to emerging quantum-resistant blockchain networks without requiring financial institutions to rebuild their security and governance systems whenever cryptographic standards change.

The initiative addresses a potential long-term vulnerability in digital asset security. Most existing cryptocurrency networks rely on cryptographic techniques that protect private keys and authorize transactions. Advances in quantum computing could eventually undermine some of these methods, creating a need for blockchain networks and custodians to adopt stronger alternatives.

Project Eleven is developing Strongpoint to help institutions prepare for that transition before quantum computing poses a practical threat to existing cryptographic systems.

Crypto-agility targets institutional security challenges

The transition to post-quantum cryptography is unlikely to occur uniformly across the blockchain industry. Different networks could adopt different quantum-resistant signature schemes, follow separate implementation schedules and establish distinct procedures for migrating keys and authorizing transactions.

These differences could complicate operations for banks, institutional custodians and other financial organizations managing digital assets across multiple blockchains. Rebuilding security infrastructure whenever an underlying network changes its cryptographic architecture could increase costs, operational complexity, and migration risks.

Strongpoint seeks to address this challenge by separating institutional security controls from the cryptographic mechanisms used by individual networks.

The platform is designed to maintain a common framework for authentication, transaction approval policies, key management, governance and audit trails while allowing the underlying cryptographic implementation to vary according to the supported blockchain.

Project Eleven describes this architecture as crypto-agility, referring to the ability to adapt cryptographic systems without replacing the entire institutional control structure.

Integrating the Quantus Network is expected to help Strongpoint extend this architecture to another blockchain designed around post-quantum security, strengthening its ability to accommodate different cryptographic standards and network requirements.

Quantus expands Strongpoint’s development partnerships

The collaboration follows Strongpoint’s introduction with the Zcash Foundation as an initial development partner. Working with networks that have different technical requirements could help Project Eleven develop custody infrastructure that is not dependent on a single blockchain or cryptographic design.

Quantus will contribute to the development of the integration, with support expected in the first quarter of 2027. The companies have not indicated that the integration is already operational.

The initiative reflects a broader challenge for institutional digital asset management. While individual cryptocurrency holders may eventually be able to migrate funds by transferring assets to addresses using new cryptographic standards, institutional transitions can involve considerably more complex procedures.

Custodians must account for approval hierarchies, authorized signers, hardware security arrangements, compliance obligations, and transaction monitoring systems. These processes may be closely tied to existing key-management infrastructure, making changes more difficult than a straightforward wallet migration.

Quantum risk remains a long-term concern

Quantum computing does not currently present a demonstrated capability to extract private keys from Bitcoin and other major blockchain networks at scale. However, the possibility that sufficiently powerful quantum systems could undermine widely used cryptographic methods has encouraged security developers to begin preparing for potential future changes.

For institutional asset managers, waiting until such capabilities become practical could leave insufficient time to coordinate network upgrades, revise internal controls, and migrate large portfolios securely.

Project Eleven‘s collaboration with Quantus therefore focuses on building migration flexibility in advance, allowing institutions to prepare for changes in blockchain cryptography before those changes become an urgent security requirement.

The planned integration does not indicate an immediate vulnerability in existing blockchain networks, nor does it establish a deadline for the broader industry’s transition to post-quantum security. Instead, it represents an early infrastructure development effort aimed at reducing the operational burden of future cryptographic upgrades.

As blockchain adoption expands among institutional investors and financial service providers, custody platforms capable of supporting multiple security standards could become increasingly important. Strongpoint’s development will depend on successful network integrations and its ability to maintain consistent institutional controls across evolving cryptographic environments.
