Quantum Echoes Brings Verifiable Quantum Randomness Onchain

Postquant Labs launches quantum-generated digital collectibles on Ethereum

Postquant Labs, the developer of the decentralized quantum computing marketplace Quip Network, has launched Quantum Echoes, a digital collectible collection generated using measurements from gate-based quantum computers. The company has introduced the assets as Quantum Forged Tokens, or QFTs, as a demonstration of how quantum hardware can generate verifiable randomness for blockchain-based applications.

The collection is being offered through a free, open-edition mint on Ethereum via OpenSea. Each digital collectible is generated using quantum measurements rather than conventional pseudorandom algorithms, giving individual pieces a source of randomness derived from physical quantum processes.

Quantum Echoes is designed to demonstrate that real quantum hardware can provide independently verifiable randomness for onchain asset generation, turning a specialized computing capability into a consumer-facing blockchain application.

The project uses gate-based quantum computers to generate traits for the digital artwork. According to the company, the process relies on the physical behavior of quantum systems, making each output distinct while allowing its origin to be verified.

Quip Network expands quantum computing workloads

The launch also represents the introduction of Quip Network’s second subnet, which is focused on random circuit sampling. The subnet is designed to create a scalable source of verifiable quantum randomness while giving gate-based quantum computers a practical workload within the decentralized marketplace.

Gate-based quantum processors have traditionally faced challenges competing with advanced classical computing clusters for certain computational tasks, including combinatorial optimization. Quip Network’s initial deployments were aimed largely at such workloads. The new subnet instead creates an alternative use for quantum processors by allowing them to supply randomness and earn network-based revenue.

The company said the approach could eventually allow participating quantum machines to monetize unused computing capacity. It also intends to develop additional subnets for gate-based quantum systems, with each workload potentially providing a way to evaluate different quantum architectures and identify areas where individual machines offer useful capabilities.

Postquant Labs CEO and co-founder Colton Dillion said the initiative was intended to make quantum computing more accessible to ordinary users by connecting expensive quantum hardware to a familiar digital product. He described Quantum Echoes as more than an art release, emphasizing that each mint involves actual quantum computing work and contributes to the network’s broader economic model.

The decentralized marketplace allows quantum hardware providers to contribute available capacity while developers can access reusable quantum programs. Quantum Echoes is positioned as the first public demonstration aimed at showing how this infrastructure can be used outside research-oriented environments.

Random circuit sampling moves toward commercial use

Postquant Labs CTO and co-founder Richard Carback said random circuit sampling has historically been used as a way to demonstrate and benchmark quantum processors. The company is now adapting the workload to produce a cryptographically useful randomness service.

According to the project, the process involves measurements from real quantum hardware, with the resulting outputs designed to remain verifiable. This creates a link between quantum benchmarking and a commercially useful service that can be delivered through the decentralized network.

The random circuit sampling subnet gives quantum processors a monetizable workload by allowing them to supply verifiable randomness instead of relying solely on traditional benchmarking or optimization tasks.

Quantum Echoes also includes several features intended to broaden participation. The common edition is available through a free mint, while selected community members received Eigen Keys that guarantee access to a rare edition when the collectibles are revealed. The rare supply consists of 1,000 items with enhanced traits generated through the same quantum infrastructure, although users without Eigen Keys can also receive rare items.

Quantum randomness targets broader applications

The QFTs will be revealed through the project’s website about one week after the mint. Beyond digital collectibles, Postquant Labs said the random circuit sampling subnet could support applications requiring independently verifiable randomness, including gaming, financial services and other blockchain systems.

The company is positioning verifiable quantum randomness as a reusable network service rather than a one-time feature of a digital art collection, potentially opening the infrastructure to third-party applications.

The launch therefore serves two purposes: demonstrating quantum-generated randomness to consumers and establishing a new workload for decentralized quantum computing providers. The company said future subnets could further test quantum architectures while creating additional economic opportunities for otherwise unused hardware capacity.
